Double Dog Dare Challenge and Color Challenge #186

This is another Splitcoast color challenge card and I combined it with the DDC challenge I do each week with a group of SCS friends.
Beverly (beestamper) is this weeks Double Dog Dare challenge hostess. Her challenge to us is to make a card with a twig. We could use our artisticness (is that a word??) as to the kind of twig to use. Being the lazy person I am, I chose to take the easy road and use a stamp!!
The adorable owl set from Sassafras, called Oliver & Friends, was stamped twice with Chocolate Chip and the white areas were colored in with copics. The colored images were cutout and attached over the other stamped image with dimensionals. I added glitter to the cloud and the wings of the middle owl. The sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Simple Little Things was also stamped with Chocolate Chip and the top layers were attached to the SU designer paper with dimensionals. Thanks for visiting and be sure to come again!!
Card details:
Stamps: Sassafras Oliver & Friends, Simple Little Things by Papertrey Ink
Paper: Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Stampin Up! dp, Whisper White
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Stampin Up! Ribbon, Martha Stewart Glitter, Dimensionals, Copics

RAK from Sue (Coffeestamper)

I received this adorable Halloween card from Sue (coffeestamper) last week. We decided to swap punched critters....she sent me some Martha Stewart bats and I sent her some punched spiders. Punching the spiders kinda freeked me out...they tend to fly from the punch and attach themselves to my clothing...yikes!!..they looks real!!! I can't wait to see what you make with the spiders!!

Colors of Fall

Good Morning!! The color challenge on Splitcoast is brought to us today by Jodi (Kharmagirl) and the colors are Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, Baja Breeze. I used my new Clear Dollar Stamps September Stamp of the Month which is perfect for the fall colors! The images were stamped with Memento Brown and colored with copics. The ovals were all cutout with Nestabilities and piercing was done around the edges of the top ovals. The Stampin Up! paper, scalloped layer, punched leaves, and ribbon finished it off. Thanks for visiting and have a great day!!

I've Been Taged Two More Times!

I've been tagged two more times, once by Vicky Gould and once by Laurie Wilson . I guess it's ok to combine them....hope I don't have to think of 14 things about myself!!

Here are the rules:

1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

1. I wear old t-shirts and sweat pants to bed....I'm not a real fan of slinky night wear!
2. I need to loose 20 pounds...yikes!!
3. I eat too much chocolate to loose 20 pounds!
4. I can't type...I have to look at the keys
5. I can't spell...always use a dictionary!
6. I am a stamp collector...can't get enough of those little rubber things!!
7. I can't stamp without making a mess...I mean a REAL mess!!
8. My idea of a good time is to curl up on the couch with my DH with a big bowl of popcorn and watch a good movie.
9. I'm going to Round Top next weekend...it's a whole weekend and several towns full of antiques. They tent off several acres in several towns and you just go from place to place. They hold it twice a year...it takes 6 months to recover, for sure!!
10. I love Italian food!!!

Ok, that's all folks!!! Now I have to tag 7 people...oh, boy!!
1. Jenn Balcer
2. Jerri Jimenez
3. Holly Brown
4. Danita
5. Cindy Lawrence
6. Christine Okken
7. Lydia Fielder

Ollie Scarecrows

Good morning!! I thought I would upload a Halloween card before I picked Mom up for church. I just love the 11:00 service....gives me a little time to wake up!! I bought this Ollie Stampendous stamp last year and haven't given it much love for a while!. The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black (my favorite ink!) and colored with copics. I punched out a circle from a post it note to mask the moon and sponged around it with Perfect Plum. After removing the masking paper, I sponged the moon with a little Summer Sun....it really is supposed to be a moon!! The Halloweeen paper is by Imaginisce and the sentiment was done with my JustRite DIY Monogram Stamper Kit. I used the Curlz font for the large letters and the small letter set for the Happy Halloween. I just love that set...you can spell out any words you want.....sooo cool!!!
I received the Martha Stewart bats in a critter exchange with Sue (coffeestamper) last week. Thanks, Sue and your card is adorable! I will upload it this afternoon! Thanks for visiting and stay tuned for more goodies this afternoon.

Limited Supply Challenge on SCS

The LSC challenge on Splitcoast today, hosted by Jeanne S., is to make a Christmas card using Christmas Critters. The only embellie allowed is ribbon...GASP!! Not sure I can function without bling!!!

This sweet little Inkadinkado reindeer was stamped with Memento Black and colored with copics. The little present in the corner from Papertrey Ink's Believe set was also stamped with Memento Black and colored with copics. It was mounted on a couple of punched flowers. I also used designer paper from Imaginisce, Ruby Red and Old Olive SU cardstock, and Riding Hood Red SU ribbon.

This little chubby penguin from Inkadinkado was stamped with black kraft and embossed with clear ep. The hat was colored with copics, layers cutout with Nesties and attached with dimensionals. I also used Fruit Cake paper by Basic Grey; Kiwi Kiss, Ruby Red, and Always Artichoke SU cardstock; and ribbon. The corners looked a little naked so I added red circles punched from the Ruby Red cs.

This is the first time to ink up these wonderful Cornish Heritage Farms stamps. Both images were stamped with Memento Black and the Cardinal was colored with copics. The layers were cutout with Nesties and both the bird and sentiment were attached with dimensionals. The paper is Dasher by Basic Grey and Blue Bayou cs from SU.
Thanks so much for stopping by....see ya tomorrow!!

My New Craft Room

Here are the pics of the garage remodel for my new craft room!!
Looks like a mess right now....they are finishing up the electrical stuff and will start on insulation and sheet rock tomorrow. Eeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! I can't wait!!!

Sketch Challenge 195

Thanks, Roxie, for the great sketch today on Splitcoast. I flipped it to better showcase the Inkadinkado image. The image was stamped with Basic Gray and embossed with clear ep. Some of the areas on the image were colored with copics for a little extra color. The BEAUTIFUL SEI paper is called Jolie Chocolat. I was going to put pearls in the corners but I forgot...oh well, that's what happens when I get in too big a hurry to upload !! I used my new EK Success Flourish Punch from Gina K. Designs and Martha Stewart's Butterfly Punch. Thanks for visiting and stay tuned for pics of the garage remodel.

Double Dog Dave Challenge

Anne (Itsapassion), hostess for the DDC this week, sent the Double Dare group a few goodies to use for her challenge. She sent a piece of beautiful designer paper and two doilies which made me think of Victorian elegance. I decided to use this retired SU set called See With the Heart. I stamped the image in Basic Gray and did a little color wash with Pretty in Pink and Soft Sky. The layers were cutout with Nestabilities and mounted on the doily. The embroidered ribbon is by Melissa Frances and the organdy ribbon and pearls came from Michael's. I used Soft Sky and a light gray cardstock from
Prism Paper for the layers.
I am on a quest to use all my stamp sets at least once by the end of the year so now I can cross this one off the list..only a gazillion left to go!!
BTW, my wonderful husband is converting our garage into a craft studio for ME!!!! I am sooo excited and I promise to be very, very good!!! When it is completed, we will build a three car garage for him and all his stuff...I will be taking some pictures later today so you can see the progress. Hope it's done before Christmas!! Now I gotta go work on a sketch challenge card...thanks for visiting!!!

Color Challenge 185

It's Tuesday and time for another color challenge on Splitcoast. Today's colors are Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze and Vanilla.
I have had this adorable Inkadinkado stamp for a while and decided today was the day to ink it up. I love making Halloween and Fall cards but was in the mood to change the theme back to summer. Now that the Texas weather is a bit cooler, it is sooo nice to go outside and work in the garden!!

The image was stamped on Shimmery Vanilla cardstock from CutCardstock.com with Memento Brown and colored with a color wash from Kiwi Kiss and Bali Breeze ink pads and an aqua pen. I wanted to keep the colors light but the Kiwi Kiss kinda took over!! The sea shells were stamped on Bali Breeze cardstock with Versamark and embossed with white ep. I added a little glitter to tone down the white a bit. Note to self...get vanilla ep!! The shells and top layer were attached with dimensionals, the paper and ribbon are from Stampin Up!, and I added just a little piercing at the top under the shells. I pierced a line above the image but since it was crooked, I added the shells...oh, well, I like the shells better anyway! Another note to self...get a new piercing grid!!!

I hope all is well at your house and have a wonderful day...thanks for coming to visit!!

Pictures of the Blue ladies!!

These are pictures of the Michelle Zindorf brayering workshop I attended in Austin last weekend. We had such a good time and Lydia's brownies were FABULOUS!!!

Jeanne, Sharon, Jenn, Michelle, Me, and Lydia in front.

Sharon was sitting with Frank....he was so quiet today!!

Michelle did a good job of keeping us all in line...we did get a little roudy at times!!

She held three sessions last weekend....I bet she was glad to get home!!

Miss Jenn...you cutie pie!!!

You can't attend a Zindorf workshop without getting inky fingers!!! We all matched!!!
Lydia wrote on her blog Understand Blue that she found two shirts after the last workshop on Sunday. She was afraid that someone left topless, but alas, it was me! I left my old denim shirt that I take everywhere. Not sure about the other shirt....there may be someone running around Austin topless!!!

Michelle Zindorf's Workshop

I wanted to share the projects we made at Michelle Zindorf's workshop in Austin last Saturday. Michelle is such a fabulous artist ....so patient with newbee's to brayering like me!!! She also signed the samples she did and gave them to us...WOW!!!

I hope all of you have a chance to attend one of Michelle's workshops!! She not only shares her talent secrets freely but she is super fun, too!!! We had lots of good food, thanks to Lydia, and we did a good job of getting all our fingers blue!!! I will upload pictures of Michelle, Jenn, Jeanne, Sharon, Lydia, and me next.

Cammie's Blog

Just wanted to let you know about the wonderful things Carolyn King is doing . She is donating 100% of the procedes from her newest stamp set Whimsical Autumn to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. She also wants to do something for the caregivers so she is asking our stamping community to send a card to anyone we know or a nursing home that cares for Alzheimer's patients. If we don't know of anyone, she has the name and address of the nursing home that cared for her Grandmother listed on her blog.

I will be sending the Featured Stamper card I made today to the nursing home that cared for Cammie's Grandmother.

Cammie will be having a drawing on September 26 for the chance to win over $1000 worth of prizes donated by stamp companies and individuals. Please visit her blog for details!!

Featured Stamper 85 - Shannon (E3stamper)

Today's featured stamper on Splitcoast is Shannon (E3stamper)...Congrats Shannon!!! WOW, what an awesome gallery to visit...I decided to case this awesome Riley card. I kept the same Riley theme but changed the stamp, kept the same sketch but added layers, and changed the colors. I also added the flowers, leaves, and ribbon.
Riley was stamped with Memento Brown ink and colored with Copic Markers. The background Old Olive layer was run through the Cuttlebug Dotted Swiss folder. The orange Basic Grey Mellow dp was stamped with the little leaf stamp from the Thoroughly Thankful set with Pumpkin Pie ink and scalloped with a Martha Stewart punch. The background paper by K&Company is so pretty and fallish...had to use it with Riley today! I used more of the paper leaves I bought at the Canton Flee Market and the Stampin Up! ribbon and button finish it off.
I will be uploading the cards we made at Michelle Zindorf's workshop after church today...we had such a great time!!! Michelle is wonderful...so kind to share her talent secrets!! I can tell ya now I need a LOT of practice!!! Have a great day!!

Dirty Dozen/Dirty Dozen Alumni Septenber Challenge

Good Morning, everyone!! The Dirty Dozen/Dirty Dozen Alumni challenge this month was hosted by Jami. Her challenge to us was to create a NO LAYER (yikes) card, any size, any color. We were also required to use masking in some way and we coluldn't use any pink (double yikes!!)I decided to go with a rustic Christmas card..no pink here!! The beautiful Penny Black image from Stamper's Dream was inked up with Chocolate Chip and Handsome Hunter markers and stamped on Creamy Caramel cs. The edge was scored, masked, and sponged with Chocolate Chip. The sentiment from the new SU set Snow Swirled was stamped with Handsome Hunter. I then cut an oval out of a scrap piece of cardstock with a Nestie, layed it over the sentiment, lightly sponged with Handsome Hunter, and doodled around the edge. Brown half pearls from Flourishes, LLC and gingham ribbon finish it off. TFL and have a great Saturday!!

Gotta Love Halloween Cards!!

I can't help myself, I just love to make Halloween cards!! The adorable little Stampendous mummy was stamped with Memento Black and colored with copics. The image and all the layers were cutout with Nestabilities. The designer paper is by Memory Box, the cardstock by Prima Papers and the ribbon from Michaels's. I added the googlie eyes so he could see where he was going!! Have a great evening and see ya tomorrow!!
Supply list:
Stamps: Stampendous, Autumn Apparitions
Paper: Prism Cardstock, Memory Box
Ink: Memento Black
Accessories: Googlie Eyes, Spider Punch, Nestabilities, Ribbon, Dimensionals, Copic Markers

Oriental Silhouette

The Ways To Use It challenge on Splitcoast today is to use silhouettes. I am soo excited because silhouettes are one of my favorite techniques!! You can use almost any solid stamp and several different techniques to achieve the silhouette look. Some of my favorite techniques include:

1. Stamp inage with black craft and emboss with clear ep

2. Stamp off the image a couple of times to create a shadow effect

3. Stamp and emboss on glossy paper and then use the brayer to add color over the image

4. Use crayon resist technique to color images and then add color over the top

5. Emboss image with white ep on dark cardstock

6. Stamp image directly on designer paper

I hope I have given you a few ideas to stir your interest!!

I did a quick card for this challenge..the Hero Arts image was stamped with Memento Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock and layered with Prism Papers and black cs. The flowers on the Oriental background paper match the flowers in the stamped image almost perfectly. After I uploaded this card to Splitcoast, I trimmed the ribbon tails back a little and took the picture again. I'm much happier with how it looks now. Thanks for coming to visit!! Stay tuned for another Halloween card!!

Belli Challenge #34

The Belli challenge on Chrissy's (chrissyd723) blog this week was to use squares on your card. I used several square layers on this card!! Isn't this little Lockhart witch just the cutest!! I bought her from Ellen Hutson, LLC . She was stamped with Memento Black and colored with Copic Markers. The background was sponged with a little Pumpkin Pie ink. The image was layered on Doodlebug's Orange Sugared cardstock and Green Galore. The black background paper is from Memory Box, also bought from Ellen Hutson's Store, and the black half pearls came from Flourishes, LLC. I stamped the inside of the card with the moon and stars stamp from the retired Halloween Backgrounds set by Stampin Up! Thanks, Chrissy for a great challenge!!

I hope you aren't sick of Halloween or Fall cards yet because I have six or seven more cut out and ready to put together. Stay tuned!!

Another Double Challenge Card!

Today I combined the sketch challenge on Splitcoast and the Belli challenge on my friend Chrissy's blog to create this Halloween card. The adorable little spider is by Whipper Snapper designs. He was stamped with Memento Black and colored with Copic Markers. The top panel was attached over the background panels with dimensionals. The background paper is by Stampin Up! and Flair Designs, Inc. The sentiment is by Hero Arts and the spider punch came from Hobby Lobby. The litte spider is green with fright because the ugly black spiders are invading his space! Yikes, who wouldn't be green!!! The Belli challenge this week is to use squares. This card has squares in the blocked background and the gingham ribbon. Thanks for visiting my blog!!!

Double Challenge Card

Happy Tuesday, everyone!! What a day I've had...I spent all morning with my parents, then this afternoon George and I had some appointments and made a trip to Sam's. I love that store...now I just have to find a place for everything!! I am so ready to sit and do nothing!! I worked off and on all day on this card....everytime I had a minute I was cutting, coloring, or redoing. Sure wish quick cards came easy for me....I spend way toooo much time on one card!!

Thanks for such a wonderful color combo, Emily....Riding Hood Red is my fave new color!! The other colors for the Tuesday Splitcoast color challenge included Basic Gray and Always Artichoke. This card was also made for the Double Dog Dare challenge I do each week with a group of awesome SCS friends. Michelle (sf9erfan) was the hostess with the mostess this week!! She challenged us to use something we haven't used in a long time...some forgotten stuff. I mixed the old with the new...the new Winter Post set was paired with two old sets: Lace Snowflakes and Fruit of the Season. The Winter Post skaters image was stamped with Basic Gray and colored with RHR and AA ink pads and an aqua painter. The snowflake was stamped with Basic Gray and the red rhinestone waited a long time to be used! The images were cutout with Nestabilities and mounted with dimensionals onto the beautiful Imaginisce paper called Snowy Jo. The sentiment from the Fruit of the Season set was stamped across the top and the RHR ribbon is the finishing touch. Thanks, Michelle, for a great challenge...I am still on my quest to use all my old stamps at least once this year. Now I can cross two more off the list!! Thanks for visiting and come back again!! I'm not finished making fall and Halloween cards....I will have a couple more to upload tomorrow!

Happy Monday, Everyone!!

Today, the Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoast was to make a glittery background by using a background stamp, glue, and glitter. This was a great challenge....I was able to give a little love to a favorite background stamp! I'm afraid my background stamps have been ignored lately in favor of designer paper. This challenge will definately encourage me to get a little more use out of those forgotten stamps!!
The Climbing Leaves Background stamp from SonLight Impressions was inked up with a glue pad, stamped on the Pumpkin Pie cardstock, and covered with Dazzling Diamonds. The Anna Griffin wreath was stamped with Memento Brown on Vanilla Shimmery cardstock and colored with Copic Markers. The paper is by Prima Marketing Inc. Thanks for visiting and I will see ya tomorrow!!

Fall's Bounty

I made this card for the Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoaststampers. The Featured Stamper today was Liz (LazyLizard), one of my Texas SCS friends! Liz and her family survived Ike, however, they were without electricity yesterday and today. Hopefully their services will be up and running soon! Liz has quite a gallery...full of gorgeous cards!! It took me over an hour last night to go through her awesome gallery...sooo many wonderful cards to choose from!! I finally decided to case this one: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/624707?cat=500&ppuser=7104. I kept the long card design, colors, and the fall theme with the leaves. I changed the stamp, ribbon, paper, and sentiment. The image was stamped on shimmery vanila cardstock with Memento Brown and colored with Copic Markers. The image was matted with Ruby Red and True Thyme and layered on the Stampin Up! designer paper with dimensionals. I used hardware from We R Memory Keepers and ribbon and leaf brads from Michael's. Have a wonderful night and see you tomorrow!

Saturday, September 13, 2008

She has two new stamp sets coming out October 1 so be on the lookout for some awesome designs!! This card is also for Chris' weekly Belli Challenge she hosts on her blog to use fibers found here: http://chrissyd723.blogspot.com/
The image was stamped with Brilliance Black, colored with Copic Markers, cutout and attached with dimensionals. The white oval background layer was cutout with Nestabilities and then run through the cuttlebug with the Swiss Dot folder. The Perfect Plum rim around the white oval was cut out with Nestabilities and glued to the oval with two-way glue. Punches were used for the sentiment layers and the Dew Drops and flowers were attached with glue dots. Thanks for visiting and come again!!

Another Fun Halloween Card!

I can't seem to stop making Halloween cards...they are so fun and silly!! What better way to spend the day....waiting for a hurricane and stamping. I have stocked up on water, food, chocolate, and Diet Coke. I even have flash lights and candles to stamp by if the lights go out! Hopefully, we will just get a little rain and wind....nothing like what will happen along the coast. Anyhoo.....

The Stampendous stamp called Doodle Pumpkins was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on Whisper White cardstock and colored with Copic Markers. The image was layered on black and Only Orange cardstock. The background paper by Cosmo Cricket is called Haunted and I bought the ribbon and rhinestones at Michael's. Have a great Friday night and I hope to see you tomorrow...... I will have some fall cards to share!!

Happy Halloween #2

This is another fun card for Halloween. I just got the Cosmo Cricket Haunted paper...love the color!! The Whipper Snapper Designs image was colored with copics on Whisper White cs, punched out using an oval Marvy Punch and layered on a piece of orange Daisy D's paper that I ran through the Cuttlebug Spider Web folder. The Hero Arts sentiment was stamped on Whisper White cs and cut out with Nestabilities. The hardware is from We Are Memory Keepers and the ribbon from Michael's. Now it's back to the hospital to wait for Mom's test results.

Happy Halloween!!

I came home from the hospital to shower and upload these Halloween cards I finished before I took Mom to the hospital. Dad and I are doing the tag team thing....not sure if she will go home today. Her blood levels have dropped a little so they drew more blood...poor thing, they give her blood and then take it away!! Go figure!! She is only 4'10" and weighs 100 lbs but has a great big fighting spirit, which is pretty good for an 88 year old lady! Please remember her in your prayers!!

I have had this A Muse Artstamp for over a year and this is the first time to ink it up. The image was stamped on black cs with Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder. The sentiment is from Hero Arts and the paper from Memory Box. I also used Basic Gray, Whisper White, and Pumpkin Pie cardstock. The spider punch came from Hobby Lobby and the black gingham ribbon is from Stampin Up!.

Good Morning!!

I didn't have a post yesterday and may not have one today....my Mother was admitted to the hospital Monday. We have had a busy two days.....she is doing much better and may go home later today. I have the lap top with me but my cards are stored on my home computer and they don't talk to each other. Gotta fix that!!! I have some Halloween cards to show you so come back later and take a peek!

Embossed Shimmer

Good Morning! The TLC Challenge (Try a New Technique) on Splitcoast today was to stipple Lumiere tinted with reinkers onto acetate and run through the cuttlebug to create a shimmery embossed background. I cut the piece of acetate 4" by 5 1/4 ". Drops of Old Olive, Only Orange, and Ruby Red reinkers were placed on a paper plate. The Lumiere was added to each of the drops with a stipple brush and then stippled on the acetate. I did use a a piece of papertowl to move some of the goo because my brush kept loosing hairs! After it was dry, I ran it through the cuttlebug. Remember to place the colored side down in the folder....I didn't do that the first time so I had to make another one. You don't want the paint side up on your card because it will peel off! I layered the acetate on a piece of Pumpkin Pie and then mounted on Old Olive.
The Lockhart image was stamped with Memento Brown ink and colored with Copic Markers. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. Ribbon, Prima, and leaf brad complete the card. Thanks for visiting and please come again! I will be uploading some fun Halloween cards later today.

Inspiration Challenge

Welcome everyone to my new bolg!!! This is my first post and I am sooo excited!! Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you often!!
Let me tell you a little about my first upload. The Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast yesterday featured the beautiful animal photographs of Catherine Ledner. I chose the sheep as my inspiration and used the adorable Penny Black stamp. The image was stamped onto Whisper White with Memento black ink and colored with Copic Markers. The designer paper was Basic Grey's Romani and the cardstock by PTI and Stampin Up! The pink and orange ribbons were Stampin Up! and the turquoise ribbon was a gift from Jenn Balcer....thanks, Jenn!! I used Stampin Up! punches for the sentiment layers and the sentiment from the Phrases Collection by SEE D's Stamps from Inque Boutique.
I'm off to let my DD Holly know about my new blog and ask for her help to set up the blog roll and other extras. She is gonna flip!!! Thanks, also, to Michelle (sf9erfan) for her support and help with this project....thanks roomie!!!
