Taylored Expressions September Sneak Peeks: Wishes on a Wire-Birthday and Presents Cutting Plate

Hello everyone and welcome to day one of the Taylored Expressions September Sneak Peeks!!!!! It's TE's 7th birthday and we are having a huge birthday celebration...WOOT!!!! This is such a fantastic release with lots of new stamp sets, die sets, new cardstock colors, a new patterned paper pack, sequins, embossing folders...my oh my!!!! The release will go live Thursday, September 3rd, at 7:00 AM PST (9:00 CST). I can't wait to show you what I created but first.....

Taylored Expressions is celebrating Release Week with some fabulous giveaways! Visit the TE Blog each Sneak Peek Day this week for details on how you can enter to win.

My first card features the super cute Wishes on a Wire - Birthday stamp...it was colored with Copics and layered over the background paper from Taylored Expressions Hello Happiness 6x6 paper pack.

The scallop made with the previously released Small Scallop Border and the hand cut fishtail banners were also made with papers from the Hello Happiness 6x6 paper pack. The sentiment is from the new Party Pals Stamp and Die Combo and the button and the Metallic Twine finish it off.

The next three cards were made with the Presents Cutting Plate...the first one was cut out of the new Mint Julep cardstock. The Birthday Banners were cut out of the new Pink Champagne cardstock as was the lining for the presents.  The TO sentiment was cut with a die from the previously released On Display Tin Inseret die set and the You is the die from the birthday celebration "free with purchase" stamp and die combo set called One and Only You!! The Little Bits - Cupcake die set was used for the cupcake and the background was embossed with the Graphic Impressions - Birthday Embossing folder.

The Presents Cutting Plate was used on Salt Water Taffy cardstock for this card and the polka dots on the second present layer were cut out with Lollipop and Cookie Monster cardstock. Sugar Cube cardstock was used for the Birthday Banner, the TO YOU, and the backing for the top and bottom presents. The background paper is from the Hello Happiness 6x6 paper pack.

This card used all the same dies and papers as the card above....since I had lots of scraps left over I could't let them go to waste!!! Lollipop cardstock was used for the card base and the top and bottom present layers...Cookie Monster was used for the middle present polka dots. The Birthday Banner, Presents Cutting Plate, and the sentiment were all cut out of Sugar Cube. The background is from the Hello Happiness 6x6 paper pack.

That's all for today....thanks for visiting! If you'd like to see more projects and new product information, please head over to the TE Blog for a complete list of our participating designers! Have a wonderful day!!!

Color Throwdown Challenge #357

Hello everyone!! It's Wednesday and time for this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge!! Since it's my turn to host the challenge, I went to Pinterest to find a little inspiration. The minute I saw the white tiger picture I knew this was the one!!!! Isn't he gorgeous!!! The colors this week are: pink, blue, white, and black.

My card features stamps and dies from Papertrey Ink's Make It Market Kit: Nostalgic Notions.  The flowers and leaves were stamped with Bashful Blue ink, cut out with the coordinationg dies, and popped up on dimentinals. The heart was cut out of Pink Pirouette cardstock and the button and twine were popped up on top.

The sentiment, background patterned paper, the die cut white layer, and graphic stamped in pink were also from the kit and the the black enamel dots in the flower centers finish it off.

Remember, be sure to add CTD357 to the keywords section when you upload your cards to an online gallery so we can find your creations!! Also, please use #ctd357 and #colorthrowdown on social media sites.

Pinterest Inspired Creation

As I was looking throught the Taylored Expressions Pinterest boards for inspiration, I found a gorgeous  card by Kendra Wietstock....I absolutely love the blue and green watercolor background with the white flowers!

Kendra's card
Kendra's Card Company: Watercolor Background...

Sooo....I played around in the craft room yesterday and this is what I came up with...I had a lot of fun but I really made a mess!!! This is what I did:

Supplies: Versamark , clear embossing powder, heat gun, dye ink pads or markers (no copics!), reinkers, or any other waterbased color medium, watercolor paper (you can use white cardstock if you don't have watercolor paper), stencil or a cutting plate diecut or a large background stamp

1. Tape your stencil or diecut to the watercolor paper. Smash your Versamark ink pad to the stencil so the area not covered by the stencil is covered.

2. Remove the stencil or diecut and emboss with clear embossing powder.

If you are using a stamp...stamp with the Versamark onto the paper and emboss with the clear embossing powder.

3. Wet the watercolor paper evenly with a small amount water. You can use a spray or Aqua pen for this step.
4. Using your ink pads or markers, apply color to the paper in random areas.
5. Spritz the color again and let the colors run together. Wipe off the color...if your color is too light, repeat with more color.
6. When you are satisfied with your color, let the paper dry or use a heat gun to dry.
7. Finish your design.

I used a diecut made with the Taylored Expressions Bold Lace Cutting Plate. I began with markers: Yoyo Yellow, Taken With Teal, Not Quite Navy, and Bermuda Bay. When I wiped off the color, it was too light so I spritzed the paper again and used some Distress Ink pads: Evergreen Bough, Crushed Olive, and Mustard Seed. This step resulted in a bolder color combo.
The TE Small Scallop Border die was used for the scallop and the sentiment from the TE Teacup Bouquet set was stamped with Bermuda Bay and the button and cording finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!!

Build a Scene - Halloween 6x6 paper pack paper was used for the background and the *grass* which was cut out with the Build a Scene - Rolling Hills die.  The sentiment from the Big Bold Halloween set is the finishing touch.
