Color Throwdown Challenge #373

Hello everyone!!! Can you believe we only have 9 days left till Christmas....where has the time gone!!! I'm still not through with my Christmas shopping and only 2 presents have been wrapped...yikes!!! Maybe Santa will bring me a Fairy Godmother for Christmas...I'll add her to my wish list...LOL!!! Anyway...this is Wednesday and time for the last Color Throwdown Challenge this year. We will be taking the next two weeks off and then we will be back with a year full of challenges and some new team members, too...woot!!!!

Tammy is our hostess this week and her challenge is to create a Christmas project....any colors, as long as it's a Christmas/holiday card.  And feel free to link something you've already blogged during the past month, but this time around we're asking for just one entry per person, please.

For my card, I used a new stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh called Winter Friends...the ornament was paper pieced and the tiny snowflakes were stamped with Marina Mist. The die cut sentiment is from Reverse Confetti and the twine is the finishing touch.

Remember, be sure to add CTD373 to the keywords section when you upload your cards to an online gallery so we can find your creations!! Also, please use #373 and #colorthrowdown on social media sites.

You will find all the challenge details on the Color Throwdown Blog.

Inlaid Hearts Tutorial

Hello everyone!! I have been shopping, wrapping, baking, making cards, and going to the Grands concerts and plays...this is such a busy time of year with all the Christmas festivities!!! I bet you are asking yourself, *why in the world is she making Valentines*...LOL!!! Well, I have all my Christmas cards made so now I'm working on Valentines...sounds like I'm super organized but we all know that's not true...LOL!!!

I made a tutorial for you today showing step by step how I made my card.

First I layed out the heart dies from Taylored Expressions on the 3.75 x 5.0 piece of Sugar Cube cardstock and played around with them until I liked the layout. The dies include Heart Stacklets, the hearts from the Square Block Cutting Plate, and the Love sentiment die from the Pockets & Pages - February Script.

Then I cut the first heart out of the white cardstock and another heart out of Lollipop cardstock. The Lollipop heart was inserted into the negative space and taped in place on the back. The next heart was cutout and a pink patterned paper heart was also cut.

Here is a picture of the second cutout heart space and the patterned paper heart that will go into the negative space.

Next, the third heart space was cutout and an aqua patterned paper heart was cut and added to the negative space. Tiny pieces of tape were used to secure the hearts on the back.

The fourth heart space was cutout and a heart was cut from TE 6x6 paper pack - Formula For Love...I just love those sweet little hearts!!

The fifth heart space was cut along with another aqua heart for the negative space.

One more heart was cut along with a tiny heart in the bigger aqua heart and the sentiment.

The two pink hearts were added and the sentiment cutout of Lollipop cardstock was inserted into the negative space. The pearls finish it off.

Helpful Hints:
1. Use thinner paper so the dies don't leave outlines when you are cutting through the hearts on the cardbase and only tape the hearts in place on the back with tiny pieces of tape until all the cutting is completed. Then reinforce the inserted hearts with several pieces of tape to hold the hearts in place.
2. After you cut the sentiment out of the white cardbase, add a piece of tape to the back of the sentiment so when you insert the Lollipop sentiment, it will stick. Also, if you have several tiny pieces of a diecut to insert, the tape will keep them in place!

Thanks for dropping by....have a great day!!!

Taylored Expressions December Release: Heart of Hearts Stamp and Die Combo!!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Taylored Expressions December Release!!!! Today is the day that all the fabulous Valentine goodies can go live in your craft room...WOOT!!!! I can't wait to show you what I made today with the wonderful Heart of Hearts Stamp and Die Combo!!! You can find all the new products in the new section of the Taylored Expressions  Store!!!

My first card is a heart shape created with the Stitched Heart Stacklets and Cookie Monster and Sugar Cube cardstock. The heart stamp was stamped with black archival ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. The little hearts were then watercolored and TE Sequins - Sweetheart sequins were added.

The banner die from the set was stamped with one of the curved sentiment and then it was adhered with foam tape.

My second card features another stamp from the Heart of Hearts Stamp and Die Combo...this one has lots of little flowers...sooo cute!!! It was also embossed with clear ep on watercolor paper that was watercolored with pink, orange, and yellow ink. The tag was cutout with the previously released Build a Tag 2 dies and popped up on the background patterned paper that was cutout with the previously released Stitched Rectangle Stacklets

The Skinny Mini Valentine Borders die was used to cutout the heart banners behind the tag and the stamped hearts from the same set were diecut and adhered on and behind the tag. The sentiment banner was stamped with one of the  curved sentiments and the twine and TE Sequins - Sweetheart finish it off.
Thanks so much for joining us this week...I hope you found a little inspiration along the way!!! Be sure to hop on over to the TE Blog to see if you are a winner!!!! Have a wonderful day!!!
