TLC396 Make Your Own Polka Dots

Hello everyone....hope you have had a wonderful weekend!!! It's my turn to host the Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoast and this week we are going to make your own polka dots!!!
How many times have you wanted to use polka dot paper but didn't have the right color??? Well, stress no more....we are going to make our own!!! All you need is a punch of some kind and a piece of card stock...yup...it's that easy!!!

1. If you want a random polka dot, just punch around the edges of the card stock layer and cover the center part that the punch couldn't reach with a sentiment layer, image, or flowers.
2. If you want a more uniform polka dot design,  emboss your card stock with a dotted folder and punch the raised areas.
3. You can also emboss your card stock with a dotted folder and color each of the raised dots with a marker, ink pad, or Versamark Pen, for example.
4. The punched holes can also be used for polka dots....just glue them on your card stock or make something creative with them like a butterfly trail.
5. Back the punched polka dot layer with different colored papers for a variety of color and a festive look.
5. If all else fails and you have a polka dot stamp, use that to make your polka dot creation!!!
6. Have fun!!!!

My card features the Rose stamp, butterfly from the Butterflies are Free set, and sentiment from Rubbernecker. The roses and butterfly were colored with Copics, cutout, and popped up with foam dots. The vine was created with a Cherry Lynn die and the polka dot background was created by punching holes in the card stock after it was embossed with a polka dot folder. Some of the punched circles were used for the butterfly trail. A MFT's Die-namics was used to cut the sentiment layer.

Now, I have a few pics of the cute little pups who have been my house guests for the last 2 weeks.....my SIL and niece are here from Alaska and they brought all their babies!!

here they all are enjoying lunch...

This is Charlie Brown..he is the baby of the bunch...he's 3 and thinks he's a prince!!!

Here is Nicky...he is the old man of the bunch...he's 13 and can put all the boys in their place!!!

Joey is being shy....

Pumpkin has adopted my hubby....he's a man's man!!

Toby is such a sweetie but snores like a man!!!

Thanks for stopping by today....hope you can find a little time this week to join the TLC challenge...I would love to see what you come up with!!!!

Christmas Wreath

Hello everyone....hope all is well with you!!! We got some much needed rain this weekend...about 2 inches...Whoohoo!!!!! My Sister-in-law and Niece are here visiting from Alaska....Andi has retired from the Air Force and she is in transition so they will be staying with us for a while. She has a job in the Dallas area but needs to buy a home. We looked last week and will go again on Tuesday....keep your fingers crossed that we find the perfect home!!!! Oh, I forgot to tell you that they have 5 little dogs....we are having quite a time...LOL!!!! They are all such good little boys and are perfect gentlemen....they each have their own personalities and little quirks. I'll share some pics in a couple of days. Anyway....

My church craft group is busy creating for this years craft fair in November. The wreath was one of the projects we made for the fair....it was sooo easy to make...just rolled up the 4" pieces of  designer paper to form a cone and hot glued them around a  paper plate that was covered with a large doily.  The 6" circle was adhered to a piece of chipboard and then hot glued to the cone layer. The lace was hot glued to the back of the circle and the cording was adhered to the front. The doily and banner were adhered to the circle then the punched birds and leaves were added with foam dots. The sentiment was added to the banner prior to adhering the banner to the circle.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend....I'm off to bed while the pups are quiet!!!!

TLC394 - Twisted Card

Hello everyone....hope you have had a wonderful weekend!!! Happy Grandparent's Day to all you grandma's and grandpa's!!!!! I took my Mom to church this morning and then went to my DGD Mackenzie's first soccer game of the season....they won 4-1...Woot!!!!! That was a great way to celebrate this special day!!!! Anyway....

It's my turn to host the Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoast this week and my challenge to you is to make a Twisted Card!! It looks complicated but it's ooooh sooo easy!!! My TLC friend, Sue (bensarmom) sent me this video from U-Tube by Kelly Gettlefinger and suggested we use it for one of the TLC challenges...thanks, Sue!!!!

Here are the details from the video:
1.Cut card stock 4-1/4"x11"
2. Score right top corner to left bottom corner at an angle
3. fold on score and leave folded
4. score down the center and fold over to form the card...you will have a pocket on the front and one on the inside
5. now you can embellish as you wish

Here is a look at the inside:

The pocket on the inside is just perfect for a gift card or maybe movie tickets....the sky is the limit!!!

I added designer paper to mine....I also added the felt rolled roses, punched leaves and the ball fringe along the pocket. The Abigale stamp and sentiment from Rubbernecker were stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa onto vanilla card stock, cutout and adhered with foam dots.

I hope you have fun with this and be sure to come to the TLC394 gallery for lots of inspiration!!!

You Mean the World to Me!!!

Hello everyone....how is your holiday weekend going so far??? Just think...most of you won't have to get up in the morning...you can sleep till noon and play in your craft space all day...Whoohoo!!!! That's what I would like to do but I have got to clean my dirty house first!!! Anyway....a strange thing happened to my blog this weekend. Blogger sent me an email stating that I had lots of activity on my blog so they needed to verify me by asking me to send them my phone number. At first I thought it was a hoax so I kinda ignored it....well, guess what...they deleted my blog!!!!!! Yikes!!!!!! I wasn't on the computer for a couple of days so I didn't realize it was gone till today!! I found the email, sent them my phone number and they fixed it after they gave me a code to submit. How weird is that??????? Has this happened to any of you??? Oh well, it's all better now!!!

I did have a chance to play a little today....the super sweet and oh, sooo talented Ellen Taylor sent me this beautiful JustRite stamp set called Kindness for my birthday (which was in May) and I wanted to make a special card just for her....it's a little late, Ellen, but ya know I love ya, Sistah!!!!!!
An embossing folder by Life Style Crafts was used in the background and lots of tiny pearls were added. A Spellbinders leaf die was used for the leaves and the flowers, twine, and the stick pin finish it off.

This is for a few challenges:
1. The Ribbon Girl Blog - pearls
2. Stampin for the Weekend - pearls and swirls
3. Dream Valley Challenge - something old (the flowers) and something new (the embossing folder)
4. Great Impressions - sentimental journey
5. No Matter Which Challenges - die cuts and/or punches

Thanks for stopping by...enjoy the rest of your Labor Day weekend!!!!
