Recycled Wedding Cards

Good morning everyone!!! Can you believe it's Friday again??? I swear the time goes sooo fast....it seems my life has gone into overdrive!! I have been working outside most of the week...at my house and at my parents. It's actually getting a little warm here so I need to finish up my planting soon. My DH planted several fruit trees and about 20 tomato plants yesterday....the green beans go in tomorrow. I can just taste fresh green beans cooked with a little onion and bacon...yummmm!! Anyway....

I cleaned out a drawer in the craft room yesterday and found a large envelope/folder I picked up at CHA two years ago at the Anna Griffin booth. The folder was made from the most luscious heavy, textured, vanilla  card stock with a beautiful die cut label on the front. Wellll, the wheels started turning ...I cut it all apart and created two wedding cards for my stash. The first card features the die cut...I covered Anna Griffin's name with an oval die cut with a sentiment from Layer's of Color and embossed it with gold ep. The scalloped layer under the label was inside the folder as a business card. The silk ribbon finished it off.
The card stock on the backside of the folder had the most elegant flourished pattern on the reverse side so I used a piece on the front of this wedding card.....I used the same sentiment on a MFT's Die-namices  die cut and added a Cherry Lynn Designs vine die cut, punched flowers with pearl centers, lace, a scalloped die cut (also MFT's), silk ribbon, and heart stick pins. Now I'm all set for a couple of summer weddings!!!

My DGD will spend the weekend with us so I have to do a little cooking today....potato salad, BBQ beef in the crock pot for sandwiches and I found the most wonderful recipe for.....

No Bake Oreo Cookie Truffles

1 package Double stuffed Oreos
4 oz cream cheese softened
Dipping chocolate - I am going to use almond bark

Crush the Oreos in a food processor reserving a few of the crumbs to garnish
Fold in the cream cheese and form into 1"- 1 1/2 "balls....put in freezer for about 15 minutes
Dip into melted chocolate using a spoon or skewer and garnish with Oreo crumbs...place on parchment paper to dry or leave on the skewer as a truffle pop.
yummmmm!!!

Thanks for stopping by today....I hope your day is super special!!!!

Color Throwdown Challenge #189

Good morning everyone!!! It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another Color Throwdown Challenge!! Kristin is the hostess this week and she has picked some beautiful, bright, happy colors...I never would have thought to put these colors together but I really love how they look!!!

I went a little wild on the yellow and red...a little brighter than the swatch but that's ok...remember,  just use what you have as long as the colors are close. The sweet little fairy from The Cat's Meow's Butterfly Kisses set was stamped with Night of Navy ink and then colored over with a navy colored copic. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Birthday basics and sewing and distressing was done around the edges of Basic Grey's PB and J dp. The red bloomers and pearl flourish finish it off.

Be sure to add CTD189 to the keywords when you upload your card to an online gallery so we can find your work!!

This is also for a few other challenges:
1. Let's Ink it Up - distressing
3. Card Crafter's Circle - in stitches
4. The Stamp Man Challenge - shabby chic
5. Crafty Ribbon Challenge - things with wings

Another Sympathy Card

Good morning everyone...it's Friday!!! This week had gone way too fast....it seems like yesterday was Monday!!! We went to the PX on Fort Hood yesterday....their prices are much lower on things like toothpaste and deodorant so we stock up when we go. Military families don't pay sales tax at the PX or the commissary so that really helps to save a few pennies!! I wish they sold punches and dies....LOL!!

I made another sympathy card for a family at church....we have lost way too many church friends this year!!!
The rose was stamped with Kitchen Sink's rose set...I have not used this in ages so I was a little rusty with the 4 step process!! I also used Jen's Deconstruction sketch from 2 weeks ago...I thought the long stamp and sentiment fit the sketch perfectly!!

This card is for a few other challenges:
1. Stampotique Designs Challenge - doodling (I doodles around the background edges)
2. Opus Gluei - What else do you know? I used to know how to stamp with the 4 step Kitchen Sink stamps  but have not used them in ages!!
3. Totally Gorjuss - use bling
4. Waste Not Wednesday - use your forgotten stuff (my Kitchen Sink stamps)

Thanks for stopping by...have a great Friday!!!!

Color Throwdown Challenge #188

Good morning everyone!!! It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another Color Throwdown Challenge!! Kerri is the hostess this week and she has picked some beautiful, bright, springy colors...I just love all the pink!!!

My card features two Papertrey Ink sets: the flowers are from In Bloom and the leaves are form the Turning a New Leaf set. The sentiment is from Stampendious. The flowers were stamped with Pretty in Pink and Melon Mambo. The flowers were then masked before stamping the leaves with Certainly Celery and rock and rolled with Always Artichoke. The Melon Mambo flowers were stamped again, colored with an aqua pen and the Melon Mambo ink pad, cutout, and popped up with foam dots.  I have a need for some sympathy cards so you will see several this week.

This is also for a few other challenges:
1. House of Gilli - flowers
2. My Craft Spot - make it pop
3. Ooh La La Creations Challenge - bold and bright
4. Paper Creations, Inc. - April showers bring May Flowers
5. Tammy's Scrapin Corner - anything goes with a splash of green

Remember, you don't have to use the exact colors to play along...use papers and colors you have that are similar to the challenge colors. Be sure to add CTD188 to the keywords when you upload your card to an online gallery so we can find your work!!

You're in My Thoughts

Good morning everyone....hope you are well and escaped all the tornadoes!!! My heart goes out to all those who have lost loved ones, homes, and businesses!!! We live in Texas and because of all the rock we don't have basements or storm cellars. I'm beginning to think we need to figure out a way to build a safe place to ride out such bad storms!! Anyway....I stamped a little during Dancing with the Stars last night. As you can see, I was in a shabby kinda mood...LOL!!!

Glitz Paper Layers paper was used for the background and I added all the details around the two sweet little birds. The sentiment is from Stampabilities and sewing and distressing were done around the edges. A pearl flourish, ribbon, lace, button and twine finish it off.

I have had a need for sympathy cards lately so you will see several this week!

I am entering this is a few challenges:
1. Bunny Zoe's Crafts - ribbon/twine
2. Let's Ink it Up - distressing
3. The Squirrel and the Fox Challenge - things with wings
4. Allsorts Challenge - button and thread
5. Just Us Girls Challenge - sponge a layer (I sponged the sentiment layer)
6. Crafty Friends Challenge - use 2 diecuts (my sentiment layers)

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!!!!

Soccer, Baseball, and a few Blue Ribbons!!!

Good Sunday Morning everyone!!!! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far!!! I have some pics of the Belton Iris Show and of Cody's first baseball game of the season but first I want to tell you about the card I made for Mackenzie...she made a goal yesterday and I didn't get to see it since I was at the iris show  so I made her a card to celebrate and to ease my guilt...LOL!!! I used the adorable Whipper Snapper image and colored it with her team colors. She even has black and teal soccer shoes....I know she is going to love this!!!

This was Cody's first baseball game of the season. He has moved up a division so instead of the pitching machine, one of his team mates pitches the ball...just like the big leagues!!!! All the boys are struggling a bit...it takes time to get used to hitting a ball pitched by a human...LOL!!!

Cody's up to bat......

He swings but misses the ball....what a bummer!!!

He really means business out in left field!!!

Now, onto the iris show.....

Here are some of the entries...the rules state we must display our iris in a green bottle so most of us use wine bottles....sure was fun getting ready for the show...LOL!!!

My Kooza won a blue ribbon....whoohoo!!!

My Chinook Arch won a blue ribbon and best of all the yellow entries!!!!!

Here is the winner's table...they select the best of each category for the purple ribbons. My Chinook Arch is the third from the right.

I also won a blue ribbon for one of the artistic divisions....the theme was Texas sports.....I chose fishing since that's all my hubby lives and breathes....

My last ribbon was a second place for the Texas theme of the Artistic division.

Thanks so much for visiting and allowing me to share my fun Saturday!!!!

Finally Friday!!!!

Good morning everyone....it's Friday...yeaaaaa!!!! I don't have a lot planned....I do have to watch my iris today and if the wind becomes too strong, I will have to cut the ones for the Iris Show tomorrow. I have two I can show if they behave themselves!!! I hate to cut them until the day of the show so they don't wilt before the judging. I will have some pictures uploaded on Sunday...maybe I will have a ribbon or two...whoohoo!! Anyway..... I did some fun stamping yesterday for Splitcoast's Ways to Use It Challenge. W were to use ruffles on our projects. My card features a silhouette stamp from Hero Arts, papers from GCD's Ella Blue collection, and the Sweet Sunday Sketch #156. I did a little sewing around the background edges and used a doily diecut under the silhouette.
This is also for the Delightful Challenge to use stitching, Moving Along With the Times Challenge to do shabby chic/vintage, and The Paper Crafting Journey to use 3 or more different papers

Now, I have something super sweet to share.....

I went out on the back porch yesterday and a bird flew away from the birdhouse that was sitting on an old wood stove. Then I heard some chirping inside the birdhouse....I discovered some brand new baby birds......

They were sooo cute!!! I feel bad that the Momma bird flies away when I open the door so I will start using the side door to go outside...that way I can peek around the back and see what they are doing. I can't wait till they are big enough to learn to fly!!!

This iris is called Kooza (Spoon 08).....hopefully, it will stay like this till Saturday!!!

This is called Chinook Arch...I won a red ribbon with it last year!!

This beauty is called Celtic Woman....this is one of my faves!!!

Thanks for stopping by....have a wonderful Friday!!!

Color Throwdown Challenge #187

Good morning everyone!!! It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another Color Throwdown Challenge!!
I am the hostess this week and I have chosen some pretty springy colors!!! I was inspired by this beautiful pitcher....I have one just like this!! It was a gift waaaaay back in the 60's (when I was a weeee babe)...I loved it then and still love it today!!

My card features the sweet little ice cream cone stamp from My Cute Stamp's Sweet Kawaii set. It was colored with Copics and layered on a Spellbinders scalloped diecut. The papers are from Basic Grey's LilyKate...the lavender looks closer to Lavender Lace in real life....I even went over it with a lavender Copic but it still looks a little blue/gray. Sewing was done around the stripes and the Baker's twine and button finish it off.

I used the Mojo 236 Sketch , Bunny Zoe's Crafts Challenge to use ribbon or twine, and the Cutie Pie Challenge to use your favorite cute stamp.

Remember, you don't have to use the exact colors to play along...use papers and colors you have that are similar to the challenge colors. Be sure to add CTD187 to the keywords when you upload your card to an online gallery so we can find your work!!

TLC372 - Faux Dry Embossing

Hello everyone!!We have had a house full of family the last two days...we celebrated several birthdays yesterday and Easter today....hope you had a wonderful Easter Sunday!!! All the food has been put away, the dishes are done, and the kitchen is clean (where was my Fairy Godmother when I needed her??) so now I am ready to get crafty!!

It's my turn to host the Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoast and I have a fun one for you!! How many times have you wanted to emboss the background on your project but didn't have the right embossing folder?? Well, your troubles are over because we are going to create our own faux dry embossing!!!
This technique is really simple....you just need punches or dies.

1. Punch or diecut the shapes you want out of the same color as your background
2. Adhere the shapes to the background...I used glue but you can also use glue dots or run the pieces through the Xyron Create-a-sticker machine
3. Create your design
4. You can find a tutorial created by Beate in Splitcoast's resourse section

How easy is that??!!??

My card features a Rubbernecker sentiment called Music #582-05, a KaiserCraft wooden bird, Prima, punched leaves, twine, lace, ribbon, and the faux embossed background was made with a retired Stampin Up! flower punch.

This is also for a few other challenges:
1. Crafting When We Can - things with wings
2. The Squirrel and the Fox - things with wings
3. Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle Saturdays - things with wings
4. Delicious doodles Challenge - textures

Thanks for stopping by...I hope you have a great day!!!!

Everything is Blooming in Texas!!!

Good morning everyone....I hope you are having a good week...only 2 days till the weekend...yeaaaa!!! I have to work today so this will be short and sweet!!  I made a one layer card yesterday with my new Bluebonnet stamp from Whipper Snapper. The stamp was colored with Brilliant Blue and Old Olive markers and stamped twice. An aqua pen was used to color the images....the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

My friend Carole from England wanted to see some Texas Bluebonnets.....I finally went to the college campus on the edge of town to take these pics.

I was surprised that we had so many fields filled with wildflowers because of last years drought.....

This is what our roadsides look like in the spring only you will see lots of orange, yellow, and pink wildflowers, too!! I'll have to drive out west of town this weekend for more pics...hopefully, I can find some of the Indian Paintbrush and Buttercups!!

I have another hybrid iris blooming...this one is called Have a Goodun. The Iris Show is a week from Saturday....sure hope I have some blooming by then!!!
This is a picture of my climbing rose with the birdhouse on the fence....flowers make me so happy!!!

Thanks for stopping by....have a great day!!!!
