Splitcoast's Technique Lover's Challenge #310

Hello everyone!!! It's my turn to host the TLC challenge on Splitcoast and I have a great technique for you tonight...heat embossing on dry embossing!!! I first saw this technique on my friend Bev's (TexasGrammy) blog with this adorable card. She has a FABULOUS video here for your viewing pleasure....check it out for all the details on the challenge!!

Now...on to my card.....the white background was first dry embossed with a music score embossing folder. An embossing buddy was run over the entire piece of cardstock. Then a brayer was used to apply Versamark to the raised part of the dry embossed cardstock and it was then heat embossed with Ranger Embossing Tinsel ep.

Be sure to use a light touch when using the brayer so you don't end up with Versamark on areas other than the raised embossing. You can use a small brush to brush off any stray embossing powder.

I colored the Rubbernecker Daffodil image with Copics and mounted it on the Pure Luxury Ocean Mist and Kiwi Kiss Nesties Layers. The sentiment is from Stamp Oasis Petite Word Set

You can see the sparkle from the Tinsel ep on the music score embossed areas.

Recipe:

Stamps: Rubbernecker's Stamp Oasis Petite Words Set, Rubbernecker Daffodils

Paper: Pure Luxury Ocean Mist, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark

Accessories: Embossing Folder, Ranger Embossing Tinsel, Nestabilities, Wrinkled Seam Binding, Button, Twine, Copics

OK...now it's your turn...make a card using the Heat Embossing on Dry Embossing technique and then head on over to Splitcoast to upload you card....we would love to see what you come up with!!!! Happy stamping!!!!

Double the Challenge Pleasure

Good Saturday morning, everyone!! I have a couple of challenge cards to show you today.....I made this one yesterday for the Free 4 All challenge on Splitcoast to make something warm and fuzzy. I used the soft kraft and brown tones for the warm and the Flower Soft on the K&Co. diecut butterfly wings as the fuzzy. The PTI Turning a New Leaf leaves in the background were stamped with Sage Shadow and the sentiment is from Crafty Secrets Couple of Cuties set. The lace and silk ribbon finish it off.
Recipe:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink's Turning a New Leaf, sentiment from Crafty Secrets Couple of Cuties
Paper: Kraft
Ink: Sage Shadow, Memento Rich Cocoa
Accessories: K&Co. Butterfly Diecut, Lace, Silk Ribbon, Flower Soft

I made this card Monday for Holly's Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoast...we were to make a card using faux tiles that used Crystal Effects. UTEE, Glossy Glaze, or even Embossing.
Holly linked us up to a great tutorial showing the technique...check it out here.
After ruining my first tiles with Crystal Effects, I decided to emboss the second set. The Magnolia image from Rubbernecker was colored with copics, cut, and embossed. Next time I think I'll emboss the picture first before I cut it up....I kept loosing the little tiles...LOL!!!
Recipe:
Stamps: Rubbernecker Magnolia
Paper: Baraly Banana, Pure Luxury Chocolate Brown, White, SU dp
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Spellbinders die, Clear ep, Copics, Wrinkled Seam Binding, Button, Twine, Pearls
Thanks for visiting this morning...now I have to get ready for a funeral. One of my church friends passed away Thursday. Joanne was a wonderful Christian lady who will be missed by her family and many friends.

My CAS Design...Clean but NOT Simple!!!

Good morning.....it's such a beautiful morning here...wish all my snowed in friends could come for a little visit!! We have been raking leaves in the front and digging out the flower beds. My neighbor's DH already has his potatoes planted. She canned 245 quarts of green beans last fall so she is in no hurry to see the garden grow...LOL!! Anyway....
I was in a CAS mood the other day and thought I would *whip* up a card in a few minutes...NOT!! Why are CAS designs sooo difficult for me??? I worked on this dizzy thing for hours!! I cut the zig zag pattern on the My Minds Eye dp and sewed along the point lines. The circles were cut with Nestabilities, tied together with twine, and laced through the dp piece.
It looks simple but I had a hard time figuting out what to do with all the pieces....I may need to stick with shabby chic...LOL!!!
Recipe:
Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps Asian Garden
Paper: Vanilla, My Minds Eye So Sophie dp
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa
Accessories: Nestabilities, Sewing Machine, Martha Stewart Baker's Twine

I hope you have a great Friday and even better weekend....life is tooo short not to enjoy every minute!!!

Special Day!!

Good morning everyone....it's a special day around here!! My parents are celebrating their 66th wedding anniversay today!!! They were married during WWII on Jan. 27, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dad was a skinny little sailor and mom was a beautiful little brunette who stole his heart.
They are such a cute couple and I love them dearly!!!

I made a card last night for the Color Throwdown to use Early Expresso, Kiwi Kiss, Marina Mist, amd Old Olive. I used the Mojo Monday 175 sketch and the Winter Wonderland theme is for The Shabby Tea Room Challenge.

The cute Whipper Snapper stamp called Winter Wonderland was colored with Copics and the sentiment is from Verve's Winter Mittens set. The rick rack die cut, wrinkled seam binding, button, and twine finishes it off. I was really glad to work with these great colors...I'm kinda tired of all the pink I have been working with lately!!!!

The birthday card features the bird stamps from their Birdday Party set....they were stamped on some scraps of My Minds Eye dp, cutout, and attached to the embossed white layer. This is a scrapbook page I did featuring my sweet little granddaughter, Caitlyn...she is such a little princess and loves pink!! I sponged Regal Rose ink on the doily using the Layers of Color Natural Flourish Art Stencil and added a pearl flourish with porcelain roses. I used stickers for her name and Zva pearl butterfly and flowers.

The edges of the background layers were punched with Martha Stewart Scallop punches and a white Prima flower corsage was added over the wrinkled seam binding and twine bows.

The heart from LOC's Polka Dot Love set was stamped with Regal Rose onto Pretty in Pink cardstock. Glitter was dusted over the Crystal effects that was added to the inside of the heart. A Glimmer Chip mirror was added to frame the heart.

The Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger this week is the Deconstructed Rose Pillow Cover from West Elm
Hello everyone...are you watching a little football??? I'm really excited to see the Steelers ahead at halftime 24 - 3...Whoohoo!!! Anyway...I did a little stamping during the Chicago/Green Bay game....I wanted to make a card for Card Patterns Sketch challenge and the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger. It's been a while since I joined in the Tuesday Trigger fun!!
Layers of Color Art Stamps is the sponser of Card Patterns Sketch #99 this week so I just had to play along!!!
My card features stamps from the Layers of Color Touch of Elegance set and a sentiment from their Sent With Love set.
The sentiment was stamped with Versafine Vintage Sepia onto the My Minds Eye Bella Bella dp and embossed with clear embossing powder. The image from Touch of Elegance was stamped over the sentiment with PTI's Chamomile ink. More images were stamped on the Fancy Pants dp with Versafine Vintage Sepia...they were stamped off once for a muted look and then the image under the sentiment layer was stamped darker to create the top of the sentiment layer. The background layers were sewn together, the top was scalloped with an EK Success punch, and the ribbon and rose trim finish it off.

It was hard to choose but finally decided to case the Stitched Daisy card....I kept the same design but changed the stamps, added the ribbon to the button, and used Tempting Turquoise instead of the Bazzill cardstock. The Rubbernecker Bold Ornament stamp was stamped with Versamark and embossed with white ep. The sentiment, also from Rubbernecker, was stamped with black and the button with the dotted ribbon is the only embellishment.

Gradient Stamping and One More Valentine

Good morning...it's 12:05 AM so I guess that counts as morning...LOL!! I'm still doing some laundry and packing away Christmas decorations. I finally got everything into storage containers but a few ornaments so tomorrow we will get it all out of the house into the outside storage closet....Whoohoo!!! Then it's dust, dust, dust....yuck!!! I'd rather be stamping!!! Anyway....
I made a card for the Ways to Use it challenge on Splitcoast yesterday....the challenge was to use gradient stamping. We could use a gradient ink pad (one that contains more than one color on one pad) or make our own by combining more than one color of ink to the stamps.I used the fish, shell, and underwater background stamps from Rubbernecker and Cool Caribbean, Pear Pizzazz, and Old Olive inks. I did a little sponging on the fish so he would show up. Ribbon with gradient colors, a brad to hold it together, and sewing and distressing on the background finish it off.
Recipe:
Stamps: Rubbernecker Ocean Bottom, Small Queen Angel Fish, Small Scallop Shell, Small Starfish
Paper: Hawaiian Shores, Pear Pizzazz, White, Anna Griffin dp
Ink: Cool Caribbean, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive
Accessories: Ribbon, Brad, Sewing Machine

Now, you know I couldn't go a day without making a Valentine!! I had lots of Bo Bunny Crazy for Love paper left over so I used up some of the scraps. The sticker has been in my scrapping drawer for a year or two and the chipboard heart, lace, rhinestone flourish, ribbon, and felt flowers all came together for a Valentine to give a friend.
Recipe:
Paper: Bo Bunny Crazy for Love
Accessories: Sticker, K&Co. Felt Roses, Lace, Chipboard Heart, Zva Rhinestone Flourish, Regal Rose Ribbon, Martha Stewart Scalloped Punch

It is supposed to be really cold here in the morning....in the 20's!! My blood starts to gel at that temp...I'm just a whimpy Southern girl...LOL!!!!! I guess I'll just have to curl up in front of the fireplace with a good book and a box of bon bons...hope your day is full of joy!!

TLC Challenge on Splitcoast

Hello everyone!! It's my turn to host the Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoast and my challenge is to make silhouettes!! I just love silhouette images...they are sooo classy and yet really easy to do!!! There are lots of different techniques to create the silhouettes.
You can:
1. Stamp the solid stamps with dark ink onto light colored cardstock
2. Emboss the images
3. Stamp solid stamps with Versamark and emboss with white ep onto dark cardstock
4. Stamp the solid silhouette stamps on patterned paper
5. Stamp Versamark onto dark cardstock and emboss with clear ep
6. Do a resist technique with the silhouette stamps and then add color to the background by sponging or alcohol inks...watercoloring works, too, as do Glimmer Mist sprays
7. Add glitter to the embossing powder for a little glam
8. You can even stamp the dark, solid image, cut it out, and adhere to the background...what ever floats you boat!!!

My first card features the Wild Garden Border 1 stamp from Rubbernecker....it was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and embossed with clear ep. The sentiement is also from Rubbernecker and some heart pearls and stickers were added for a touch of red. The wrinkled seam binding, button, twine, and sewing around the background edges finish it off.
This fun stamp from Hero Arts was stamped with Chocolate Chip craft ink on the Bo Bunny Crazy for Love dp and embossed with clear ep. I added a little glitter to the embossing powder to give it a little sparkle!! Sewing was done around the edges of the background layer and the image layer and lace, button, ribbon, and K&Co. chipboard pieces are the finishing touches.
Now it's your turn...come on over to the TLC gallery and let us see your masterpiece!!!

Moxie Fab World Trigger Valentine

This is the Moxie Fab World Tuesday trigger and I found inspiration in the colors and the pretty strings of colorful circles. I made my inspiration into a Valentine just because I am obsessed with them this week!!! I used stickers and chipboard hearts from K&Co along with Baker's Twine and a heart button. Toooo simple and just tooo fun!!!

This is a Victorian style Valentine using diecuts from K&CO along with lace, ribbon, button, twine, and a heart stick pin. Lace sponging (using lace as a stencil, sponge Fresh Snow ink over it to create the lace design in the background) was done on the kraft cardstock and the ticket is the sentiment.
I took down a few Christmas decorations yesterday and then went to my parents home to dismantle their Christmas village...Mom and Dad have the Dicken's houses and they look sooo pretty all lit up in the evening!!
Have a great Saturday and be sure to do something fun today.....call a friend, bake some cookies, cuddle a baby.....make a difference to someone special!!!!

Valentines Galore!!

Good Friday morning everyone!! OMG...where did this week go??? I still don't have my Christmas stuff put away......Mom and I kept our Christmas decorations up for my Sister's visit. Maybe I will have it finished this weekend.....or at least in time to get the Easter decorations up...LOL!! Anyway....instead of working on my house I played in the craft room. The Valentine above was made with Echo Park Be Mine dp and stickers....I just love those papers!!! The birdcage sticker was adhered to a scrap of Basic Gray cardstock and cutout leaving some of the cardstock showing for a mat and to add a little stability. The ribbon, button, and floss are the only embellishments.
This Valentine showcases die cuts from Doodlebug Designs...the sparkly silver metal sentiment is from Memory box and the heart sticker is from K&Co. The bottom edge was punched with an EK success scalloped punch.
Both cards are pretty simple yet look very detailed and best of all they were super fun to make!!!
Thanks for visiting during my Valentine week.....I'll have more this weekend and then I should be all set for my children and the Grands. I still have several friends to make cards for so I guess I'll be making them all month...yikes!! I'll be mighty sick of red and pink by then...LOL!!!!
