Color Throwdown Challenge #298

Hello everyone....Hope you are having a good summer so far!! We have been getting a lot of rain which is a real shocker for central Texas this time of year!!! Everything is so green and lush...I could get used to this!!! We did have a little glitch in our happy day yesterday...the kitchen sink faucet died. My hubs had to take it out and couldn't find another one in town so we had to order it...should be here 
July 1...yikes!!!! No water in the kitchen sink for a week....oh well...it could be worse, right?? At least the craft room is safe...LOL!!! Anyway.....

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another Color Throwdown Challenge!!! Monika is our hostess this week and she had picked a soft and pretty color palette of pink, purple, and kraft. 

My husband and I celebrate two anniversaries each year....the date we were married and the date we met....great way to get two gifts...LOL!!! The anniversary of the day we met is coming up July 26 so I made this card for the hubs. 
All the dies used on my card today are from Taylored Expressions.

The plus die from the From the Desk Of.... set was cut out of Choice Kraft, the the Open Scallop Border Die was used to cut out the Wisteria Wonder border, and the Always die from the Pockets and Pages February Script die set was used to cut out two diecuts, one pink and one kraft...they were glued together to create a little dimension. A heart embossing folder was used on the round pink layer and the doily, sequins, and the little wood people were all from the Taylored Expressions store. 

Remember, you don't have to use the exact colors.....use what you have as long as they are close to the challenge colors and be sure to add CTD298 to the keywords section when you upload your cards to an online gallery so we can find your creations!!

Bright and Cheerful

Hello everyone....I was playing around in the craft room yesterday and made a couple of fun little cards using the Taylored Expressions June Stamp of the Month set called Bright Boutique and the coordinating dies called Hi Hey Hello. 

I started with the bright, happy, paper from Doodlebug Design's Hip Hip Hooray 6x6 paper pad. The Happy banner was stamped on Choice Snow White card stock with Memento Tangelo and the birthday sentiment was stamped with Wild Wasabi. The stars were stamped on Daffodil Delight card stock with the same colored ink, cutout, and popped up with foam dots....the enamel dots and heart finish it off. 

Dies from the Hi Hey Hello dies set were used for my second card....they were cutout of Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, and Soft Sky card stock. The strip of patterned paper from Doodlebug Design's Kraft in Color - Kraft 6x6 paper pad was added and a little sewing was done along the edges. 

The enamel dots and twine finish it off.

Hello Summer!

Hello everyone....I know it's summer around here because we are starting to have 90+ degree weather. If I was smart I would take off and go to the beach (Padre Island is about 5 hours south of me) but instead we are staying home to can another 6 gallons of green beans...LOL!!! George also picked about 5 gallons of carrots...I am going to freeze then and use them for soups this winter. He also picked two grocery sacks of different kinds of squash...I am going to take some of them to my ladies church group tomorrow. I'm sure I can find someone to take them off my hands!! Anyway....

I decided to create a beachy themed card (If I can't be there, the next best thing is to make a beachy card, right??). 

The Taylored Expressions Wave Border die was used to create the water and a torn piece of Choice Kraft was used to create the sand. The umbrella from the TE A Day in Paradise stamp set was paper pieced using papers from Echo Park's All About a Boy 6x6 paper pad and Fancy Pants' Down By the Shore 6x6 paper pad. It was cutout and popped up with foam tape. The other Taylored Expressions dies I used include the Little Bits Beach Ball and Sandcastle and the Build a Scene Sunshine and Swirly Clouds. The sentiment is from the TE Little Bits of Summer set and the button with hemp cording is the finishing touch.
