Color Throwdown Challenge #207

Good morning everyone!!! It's Wednesday again and time for another Color Throwdown Challenge!  The lovely Lori is our hostess and she has picked some pretty summery colors for us this week!!!! Remember, you don't have to use the exact colors...use what you have that comes close...we want everyone to have a chance to play

My card uses several dies and punches to create a fun little scene. Punches were used for the flowers (Stampin Up!) and bird nest leaves (Martha Stewart) and the dies include the flourish vine (Cherry Lynn Designs) and the doily (MFT's). The sentiment is from The Cat's Meow's Fly Free set and the twine, embossing folder for the background, and pearls finish it off.

This is also for a few other challenges:
1. A&T Emerald Faeries Challenge - dies and punches
2. Paper and Such Designs - things with wings

TLC392 Fold Over Bookmark

Hello everyone...it's my turn to host this week's Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoast!!! Since school is starting tomorrow the kids will be reading a lot of books and I bet you can guess what they are going to need...yup...bookmarks!!!  Soooo.... my challenge to you is to make a fold over bookmark!!
I love this design because the bookmark fits over the page so it's less likely to fall out and it's a great way to use up all those long, skinny pieces of cardstock!!!.

Here are the deets:
1. Cut a piece of card stock 2" x 11" and fold in half so it measures 2" x 5 1/2" (or use a scrap of card stock near the same size).
2. Cut the top corners in the shape of a tag (or use a die for a fancy look) and punch a hole in the center top for ribbons or twine.
3. Sew through the front and back about 1/2" from the top so the bookmark will stay closed and not flop open.  If you don't sew, you can glue the front and back together on the inside from the fold down about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.
4. Now, decorate anyway you want...remember to keep it flat so the bookmark will fit over the page snuggly!!!

My bookmark features the Stampin Up! Elements of Style set which was stamped on vanilla card stock and colored with Copics. The little Hummer was stamped with Night of Navy, cutout, and adhered to the front with glue dots. The seam binding finishes it off.

Thanks for visiting....be sure to gather up all your 2" scraps, now, and come join all the fun!!!!

Gentle as a Butterfly

Good morning everyone....can you believe it's Saturday already?? This week has gone sooo fast!!! I'm going to do a little stamping this morning and a little stamping this afternoon....maybe the same thing tonight...LOL!!!! We are going to take our DD Holly and her hubby John out to our favorite German restaurant  this evening for John's birthday....both the boys were stationed in Germany during their military career and learned to love the food. Holly and I are learning to love it....I can't do the red spicy cabbage or the hot potato salad!! It just seems too weird to eat potato salad hot!!!! Anyway....

I made this card last night for the Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast.  Anne picked the Wind and Weather store for our viewing pleasure and I found this gorgeous butterfly for my inspiration. I created around the theme and colors. The sentiment is from Rubbernecker's Butterflies are Free set, the butterfly was punched with a Martha Stewart punch, the sentiment panel, leaves, and scallop were die-cut with MFT's Die-namics, and the rose was made with a Spellbinders Nestabilities.

This is also for The Poodle Parlour's Challenge to use winged things, Cute Card Thursday Challenge to bling it up, and the Crafty Creations Challenge to use gems and twine.

Thanks for stopping by...have a great Saturday!!!!!

My card features the bird stamp from Purple Onion Stamps and the wonderful verse from Verve Stamps....I also used the Mojo Monday Sketch #255

My Cameo Coral matting really looks dark in the photo....it's a lot lighter IRL.... MFT's Dienamics dies were used for the Pretty in Pink rolled roses, the sentiment panel, and the scalloped edge. The patterned paper strip is from Papertrey Ink and the pearls for the flower centers and the punched leaves finish it off.

This is also for a few other challenges:

Double CAS Day

Good morning everyone....how are you on this wonderful Tuesday morning?? I have to take my Dad to his doctor's appointment in a little while but first I wanted to share a couple of CAS cards I made yesterday for two Splitcoast challenges. This card was for the CAS challenge to make something that was inspired by the word school. The Red Lead Paperworks stamped image was colored with Copics and the sticker ruler from October Afternoon and the star finishes it off. It's pretty simple but perfect for one of my Grands!! Sorry the picture is so dark...I was having a heck of a time adjusting my light!!!

This one was made for the TLC challenge hosted by Judy...she wanted us to make something without stamps. We could use stickers, rub-ons, chipboard, etc. but no stamps. I have had these cute little cloth covered stickers for a while now and finally had a reason to use them. They are from The Little Yellow Bicycle and the sentiment is an old rub-on from Stampin Up! That's why I never throw anything away...ya never know when it might come in handy!!!!

Thanks for stopping by today....we are going to babysit two of our Grands this afternoon and then my girlfriend is coming from San Antonio to spend the night....you can bet we won't get a whole lotta sleep!!! Poor George...he just shakes his head and goes to bed....he isn't one to stay up past 10:00...LOL!!! I tease him by saying he can't hang with the big girls and he is the first one to agree with me. Of course, I can't hang with the big boys by getting up at 5:00 am either...LOL!!! Have a great day!!!!

Christmas in August

Good morning everyone....how are you on this wonderful Saturday morning??? I don't have a lot planned for today....my DH went fishing so I have the house to myself for a while. I have to do a little watering and weeding while it's cool...well, I guess 80+ degrees early in the morning is cool...LOL!!! We are supposed to get a little rain this weekend but I'm not holding my breath....we can only hope!!! Anyway....

I made a card for the Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast..... Stef picked an awesome store called Leif for us to find a little inspiration. I found my inspiration from this red watch...the red reminded me of Christmas Poinsettias!! The Stamp Oasis Poinsettias from Rubbernecker were colored with Copics, cutout, and adhered to a vanilla oval diecut that was scored diagonally. Spellbinders Floral Oval die was used for the red layer and the background vanilla layers were embossed with the Dotted Swiss embossing folder. The ribbon, silver cording, antique button, and the silver pearls for the flower centers finish it off.

This is also for a few other challenges:
1. Crafting for all Seasons - bright colors
2. Just Keep on Creating - Christmas
4. Celebrate the Occasion - Christmas in August

Thanks for visiting....have a great weekend!!!

Butterfly Kisses

Hello everyone...I finally had a morning to play in my craft room...yeaaaa!!! I had to spend a couple of hours cleaning and organizing before I could play....it sure doesn't take long to make a really big mess!! Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes for my Dad...he is doing much better today. He is still weak but on the mend, for sure!!!  Anyway....

The iSpy Sketch was used for my card today as well as the Craftymess Challenge to use words, not an image. The sentiment is from the Pure Innocence set called Butterfly Kisses from My Favorite Things. The double butterfly was made with a Martha Stewart punch and the felt rolled rose, felt leaves, and the scallop were made with MFT's Die-namics dies.....twine , ribbon, wire for the butterfly, and the banner sentiment finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by....have a great day!!!!!

Color Throwdown #205

Good morning everyone!!! It's Wednesday again and time for another Color Throwdown Challenge!
It's my turn to hose the challenge...I found this beautiful cake on Pinterest and just had to use the colors for this weeks inspiration!!!  Remember, you don't have to use the exact colors...use what you have that comes close...we want everyone to have a chance to play!

My card features the adorable fish stamp from Rubbernecker called Luncheon Meet....it was stamped on white card stock that was colored by inking up a piece of masking tape with Pool Party and *stamping* it on the card stock. This process was repeated a few times to cover the entire background. The fish were stamped again, colored with Copics, cut out, and adheres with foam tape. The sentiment called Hangin Around is also from Rubbernecker and the button, twine, Stickles bubbles, and the diecut wave finish it off.
