New Addition to Our Family!!

I was going to do a little stamping today but we got a call from the animal rescue people
to come pick up the Morgan mare we had been waiting to adopt. Her name is Midnight and she is 12 years old. She was a show horse until her owners got a divorce and the horses were left to fend for themselves. Midnight and 15 other mares were in one field and the two stallions were in another until someone delivering hay put them all in the same field. Well, wouldn't ya know all 16 mares got pregnant!!! This is Midnight's first baby so we will be watching her close!!

She has been living in a muddy field without grass for years, just living on hay. She is in pretty good health considering ...she was really excited to chomp down on that yummy green grass!! You can see the back of my DD's house up on the hill. They have such a beautiful view to the west...they love to sit out on the back porch and watch the gorgeous Texas sunsets!!
She hasn't had a bath or her mane and tail combed for years....her hoofs are a mess, too!! The furrier is coming on Tuesday to give her a pedicure (can ya tell I'm a city girl...LOL!!)

She is so sweet and gentle...I can't wait for the grandkids to meet her!!!

You should of seen the cows and baby calves come to check her out....I think they wanted to get ahold of Midnight's hay!!!

This is our sweet little baby donkey who was born on November 3, 2009...on my DGD Mackenzie's birthday. That is why we named him Mack.

Big Brother Larry was born March 11, 2008 on my cousin Larry's birthday....
Our friends, David and Susan, went with us today to help...Susan is checking out Midnight's tail. It is so full of cockle burrs that it just hangs in one big clump. Susan used to have horses so she is going to give this old city girl lessons on how to take care of a horse. I wonder if my OB nursing skills will come in handy when she is ready to deliver...LOL!!!
Thanks for visiting....hope you had a great weekend!!!

Can't Get Enough of the Belli Challenge!!

Good morning everyone!!! You should see my neighborhood...there is a snowman in almost every yard...tooo fun!!! It snowed all day yesterday and man was it beautiful!!! Just like a silly Texan, I had to take a bunch of pictures...it might not snow again for a year or two so I had to document the wonderful memory. Anyway....

I wanted to share with you another card I made for last weeks Belli challenge with one of the stamps I received from the sponsor on the Belli Challenge blog. QKR Stampede was so generous in providing stamps to all the Belli Girls, and we truly appreciate their kindness!!
The Floral Oval from QKR Stampede was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics. The corners were pierced and then tiny black rhinestones were added for a little glam. The layered Nesties, ribbon, and punched butterflies finish it off.

I made this for a few other challenges:
LaLa Land Crafts - to use red
Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge - recipe: use something 3-dimensional, a stamped image, and yellow and green somewhere on the card.
Lexi's Creations - anything goes
Totally Gorjuss - flower power

This week's Belli Challenge is butterflies and dragonflies, so head on over to the Belli Blog to enter the link to your own card or project. You could win a $30 shopping spree from QKR Stampede! How cool is that!!

Many thanks to QKR Stampede for providing the Belli Girls with all the wonderful stamps for us to play with.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!!

Snow, Snow Everywhere and Off to the Teaparty!!!

We are in the midst of a winter snowstorm today....since we only see this once every few years, we silly Texans are all excited!!! This is a picture of my cactus garden at the back of our property.....sure doesn't look like a Texas landscape!!
I am just a little concerned about the big old trees in our yard...too much wet snow will cause the branches to break. That's not so good since they drape over our house!!!

The back patio looks kinda sad....we are planning out February family birthday party for Saturday. Hope the snow will be gone so we can use the space!!!

Now, down to business!! The snow is just beautiful and sooo got me in the mood to go to Colorado for da Mudder's tea party!! It seems Shaun White, the Olympic Snowboarder, has been practicing there and really upset Abner the Abdominable Snowman for disturbing his white space. We were to add a little color so everything wasn't so white. I added a few red *flags* and some flower silhouettes to add a little spice to his boring world!!
The Color Challenge on Splitcoast was all about the Olympics, too. Betty listed several events and we were to pick which event we wanted to enter. I entered the first one to add one color (red) and a neutral (black). My dessert was the silver pearls.

This is also for the DDC challenge hosted by Fran (Francie G.)...it's a 1-2-3 challenge. I used:
1 ribbon
2 images
3 silver pearls.
You can find the DDC challenge in the challenge forum post # 67. Be sure to add DDC to the keywords section of your upload so we can find your card.
The image from Clear Dollar Stamp's Plumes and Blooms set were stamped twice with Versafine Onyx Black and embossed with clear ep. The outside edge was embossed with a square Nestability and the ribbon and silver pearls finish it off.

Thanks for visiting and now I'm off to stir my soup....nothing like a hearty bowl of soup and cornbread on a snowy day!!!

Using Punches

Good Monday morning everyone!!! We are having a brisk morning here in Central Texas. My DH is mowing the yard before it snows tomorrow. We escaped the last storm...they got 9-10 inched in the Dallas area...yikes!!! I am looking forward to being *snowed in* and forced to stamp all day...Whoohoo!!! Anyway....
I stayed up till 1:30 last night to play in the Technique Lovers Challenge on Splitcoast. Holly challenged us to create a scene with punches....tooo fun!!
I used three different SU circle punches and the SU scalloped circle punch to make the bunny and the SU scalloped circle punch and the MS fern punch for the carrots. The grass was punched out with an EK Success scallop punch. The butterflies were punched with a MS butterfly punch...no creativity there...LOL!! Flower Soft was added to the bunny and the sentiment was from Rubbernecker's Floral Silhouettes set 2 #468. This was sooo much fun...be sure to get out those punches and give it a try!!!
Recipe:

I kept the same basic layout but changed the colors, stamps, amd eliminated the scallops. The Clear Dollar Stamps Jungle Fever images illustrated by Wendy Hall were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics. The head on the lion was popped up on dimensionals and the ribbon finished it off. This is also for the Saturday Spotlight With Hidden Potential challenge to use distressing.

I need to look busy, though, because my DH is working out in the yard and I KNOW if I get *not busy* he will find something for me to do...yikes!!! See my fingers fly...LOL!!! Anyway...on to business...
The Ways to Use It challenge on Splitcoast yesterday was to use orange. Since I LOVE orange, this was an easy one for me!! The Bitty Botanicals from Clear Dollar Stamps were stamped on the Basic Grey Sugar Rush dp with Basic Gray ink and the sentiment is from Clear Dollar Stamps Christian Sympathy set. This was made Wednesday for the Sketch Challenge on Splitcoast and Mothermark's Teaparty. We are going to Mardi Gras...whoohoo!!!! I used the Mardi Gras Mask from Rubbernecker...stamped it 3 times, colored with copics, cut out the layers from each image and layered them to make one image. I added Yellow Stickles to the little stars on the image and colored the large chipboard stars with Copics. Ribbon and a mask charm are the finishing touches. Now I'm off to find all the other teapotters....I'm sure they are sampling the tea and Bertie is undoubtly flinging beads...yikes!!!

Laurie's gallery is sooo fabulous....I had such a hard time deciding which card to case!!! I finally chose her FS152...CASing ARdodd baby card because it was sooo pretty and since I wasn't able to play along in the FS152 challenge, I got to case both these wonderful stampers!!! The same basic layout was used but the colors, stamps, and theme were changes. I also changed the main image layers from round to oval. The cross from Clear Dollar Stamp's Peace for the Journey was stamped with Berry Sorbet and the sentiment was from the same set. I finally made it to the Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday Tea Party....it took me a day to gather up all the tea sets and then I got stuck on a slow boat that was headed to China...yikes!!!! Since we will be serving at least 42,000 teapotters and since Bodacious is a bull in a china closet, I figured we would need lots of china!! Get the whole story on da Mudder's blog....she has the scoop!!!Three rows of three inchies qualifies this for Splitcoast's Ways to Use it challenge, too!! Eggs, Buttons, Bows, and Flourishes!!

Hello everyone....hope y'all had a great Monday!!! I started another diet today....I think it's diet #1,000,000!!! We will see if I can make it till tomorrow!!! Anyway, I have been finishing up some projects and starting some new ones.
Beverly's (beestamper) Double Dog Dare Challenge last month (I'm just a little behind!!! Her challenge is Post #59 in the Double Dog Dare Challenge forum) was to make a non-challenge card......a card that isn't for any challenge whatsoever. The twist is that you have to actually mail it to someone...someone who isn't expecting a card, and you must send it as anonymous. This was the perfect opportunity to use one of the new stamps I bought at CHA in California. The beautiful Easter image called Branch with Eggs is from American Art Stamp. Close to Cocoa, So Saffron, and Pale Plum markers were used to color the stamp prior to stamping on the white cs. The eggs were stamped again with Memento Tuxedo Black on a scrap piece of white cs, colored with copics, cutout, and attached with dimensionals. The butterflies were punched out of the Nook and Pantry dp and Taylor's Tiny Twinkles, Candy Dots, PTI ribbon, and the scalloped border finish it off.
Recipe:
Stamps: American Art Stamp
Paper: PTI's Scarlet Jewel, So Saffron, White, Basic Grey's Nook and Pantry dp
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Markers, Candy Dots, Taylor's Tiny Twinkles, PTI Ribbon, Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, Martha Stewart Scalloped Border Punch

I kept the same layout and kraft card base but changed the stamps, colors, and theme. Images from the Rubbernecker Wildflowers set #465 were stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and the PTI buttons were laced with Martha Stewart twine. Ribbon and Candy Dots are the finishing touches.
Recipe:
Stamps: Rubbernecker Wildflowers set #465
Paper: Kraft

This is the second Featured Stamper card I made yesterday....Barbs gallery is so awesome, I just can't stay away!!! I chose the Your On My Mind card to case. I kept the same layout and use of buttons but changed the colors, papers, and stamps. The flourish from Clear Dollar Stamps Plumes and Blooms set was stamped with Sage Shadow and I changed the papers to Basic Grey's Nook and Pantry. The tag was stamped with a sentiment from CDS's Peace for the Journey set. The buttons, twine, and ribbon finish it off.

I've Been Stampin Up a Storm!!!

Good Saturday Morning everyone!!! I stamped all day Friday trying to finish up some projects. I made this for the Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast and the Double Dog Dare Challenge hosted by Anne (jdmommy) a few weeks ago to use a frame. You can find the DDC challenge in the challenge forum on Splitcoat.....#62 post. I colored the adorable little digi bunny named Benjamin from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps with copics and sponged around the image with Bashful Blue and Old Olive. The chipboard frame has been in a drawer for quite a while with out a name so I haven't a clue where it came from!! The paper is new from Basic Grey called Origins and the ribbon, flower, and button finish it off. Now I am only behind by one challenge...Whoohoo!!!
Recipe:
Stamps: Digi from Sweet 'n Sassy
Paper: White, Garden Green, Prism Tawny Dark, Basic Grey's Origins
Ink: Bashful Blue and Old Olive
Accessories: Frame, Ribbon, Copics, Button, Flower, Dimensionals

These are a few of the Valentine gift sets that I made for my Grandkiddos. I used an adorable Demani stamp and a variety of My Minds Eye and K&Co. Valentine papers. I bought the clear plastic boxes and the stamp at the Denami booth at CHA. 10 wrapped nuggets fit in the box and I made belly bands with the same papers. The little tin holds candy hearts.

I made these Valentines today and sent them to Pat Adam...she is asking for Valentines for the kids at Children's Hospital of Michigan. There are roughly 250 kids and they would like enough for each child to have a handful. The deadline is Feb. 8th so if you are interested, check out her blog for details. I used lots of different papers, colors, stamps, stickers, ribbons, and Nesties. Now, I'm all stamped out....time for bed!! Yikes, it's after 1:00 AM.......
Thanks for visiting....have a great weekend!!!
