Banners Made Easy!!

Hello everyone...hope y'all had a wonderful weekend!! We had beautiful spring weather  all weekend and I had a chance to work outside. Flowers and fruit trees are already blooming...I hope we don't get a late freeze..yikes!! Next week I have to start working on our taxes so I better enjoy the sunshine while I can...LOL!!! Anyway....

It's my turn to host the Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoast and this week we are going to make banners! Banners are so trendy and fun.....they have been all over stampland this last year. Here are the deets:

1. You must make your banners from scratch....no dies, stickers, or chipboard banner shapes!!
2. They must be the hangy downy kind...not the flat sentiment type.
3. You can make triangle shapes, flag shapes, half circle shapes, half egg shapes, square shape, heart shape....any shape you desire
4. You can hang the banner shapes on Baker's Twine, wire, raffia, twine...you can sew them on or pop them up on foam dots....
5. They can be made out of felt, paper, cork, fabric, chipboard...cut them out with punches, a paper cutter, or scissors.
6. I made mine by punching out 3 squares, layering them on top of each other, and hand cutting the triangles so they all were the same size. The matting was created by punching out three squares from cardstock, laying one of the cutout banners on a square, and cutting around the the edges using scallop edged scissors....they were glued together and sewing was done along the edges. They were then taped to a piece of Baker's Twine and adhered to the card with foam dots.

The sweet little bunny is Rubbernecker's Carrot Bunny #84-09....it was colored with Copics and the Rubbernecker sentiment #14-0910 was cut out with round Nestabilities and popped up with foam dots. The sewing, seam binding, buttons, twine, floss, and lace finish it off.
Recipe:
Stamps: Carrot Bunny #84-09, sentiment #14-0910
Paper: white, Kiwi Kiss, Old Olive, The Girls Paperie dp, Candy Kisses digi dp
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Nestabilities, Copics, Seam Binding, Button, Twine, Lace, Sewing Machine, Scalloped Scissors, floss

This is also for a few other challenges:
1. Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge - something that starts with a B (bunny)
2. Delicious Doodles - use pink and make it girly
3. The Stamp Man Challenge Blog - colors of spring/Easter
4. Stampin for the Weekend - bingo (I went diagonally with  ribbon, lace, and diecuts)

Thanks for stopping by...be sure to check out the TLC challenge on Splitcoast...I would love to see what you create with banners!!!

Loving Thoughts of You

Good morning everyone....can you believe that February is almost over??? Where does the time go??? We had quite a rain this last weekend...we got over 3 inches on our farm outside of town!!! We have two rather large ponds that filled up quite a bit and two very muddy horses who love to roll around on the ground in the soft mud!!

This picture was taken before the rain...you can see how low the back pond is in the background. Now it's up about a foot or so. We had our yard in town mowed a couple of days ago and they bagged the grass so George could take it to the animals. He spread one of the bags in the chicken run and the girls went nuts...they pecked, scratched, and cackled  for hours!!! Animals are soo much fun to watch!!

Anyway...maybe I should tell ya a little about my card. I made this yesterday for the TLC challenge on Splitcoast. Holly challenged us to do acrylic distressing. The instructions can be found here in the SCS Resource section.
It's really easy...just emboss a piece of cardstock with an embossing folder, paint the whole thing with acrylic paint, sand the raised areas and then rub ink on the sanded areas. I actually had a juniper colored Adirondack Acrylic Paint dabber sitting on my counter...that's what I used to paint my background layer after I ran it through the Cuttlebug with a bird and branch folder!! The distressing was done with Papertrey Kraft ink and sponging on the Cat's Meow image was done with Sage Shadow. The papers are from Bo Bunny's Gabrielle dp and flowers and twine finish it off.
Recipe:
Stamps: Cat's Meow Sent With Love
Paper: Kraft, Vanilla, Bo Bunny Gabrielle dp
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, Sage Shadow, PTI Kraft
Accessories: Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabber, MFT's Ric Rac die, Sewing Machine, Twine, Primas, Nestabilities

My cousin and his wife from Iowa have been visiting for a few days...they brought their golf clubs but couldn't play. I know they are a little bummed especially since they are going home tomorrow. Ya know it will be sunny and warm the day after they leave...LOL!!! Anyway....I made this card a few days ago but didn't have the time to upload what with working and visiting. The Be Mine Text sentiment #28-03 is also from Rubbernecker and the heart was made using Martha Stewart Punches.....ribbon, twine, and a button finishes it off.

Happy Valentines Day!!!

Good morning everyone and HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!!!
I hope you all get to do something wonderful with someone special to you....I get to work....what a bummer!!! Maybe my DH will take me out for supper...a girl can dream, can't she...LOL!!!! I may have to take my hubby out but he can pay...sounds like a plan to me!!!!!
I made these cards for some friends but haven't got them in the mail yet.....shame on me :(
I had an idea for the design and kept stamping  till I got the look I wanted, which was the first card. Then I looked at all the practice samples and decided I couldn't let them go to waste so I made two more cards.
They are all kinda the same but different. This one uses stampes from Verve's Heart to Heart set and Verve's Hearts on Fire set. Silver metallic paper was used for the matting and a red heart shaped doily filled in the background. Memento's Lady Bug, Angel Pink, London Fog, and Tuxedo inks were used and Baker's Twine finished it off.

This one uses three retired Stampin Up! sets; Lace Heart, happy Hearts, and Gentler Times. Real Red, Pretty in Pink, and Going Gray inks were used along with silver metallic paper and baker's twine.
The same Verve stamp sets and Memento inks were used here but I changed the matting paper to Real Red .....I added a heart shaped button and Baker's Twine to finish it off.

Thanks for popping in today....I hope you have a super FABULOUS Valentines Day!!!!

Another Valentine

Good morning everyone!!! I'm still making Valentines....hopefully I can get them to the post office later on today. I know they will be late but I wouldn't want to send anyone into shock because they received their Valentine on time...LOL!!! An old 1998 Stampin Up! set called Kindness Shared was used for this card. The heart was colored with copics and a Cheery Lynn Designs diecut was used for the background layer. This will go to my DD Holly and her hubby, John.
We went to our DGD Caitlyn's first soccer game yesterday morning and boy was it cold...it was down in the 40's!!! This old grandma had on 2 shirts, jeans, coat, mittens, and a blanket and I was still freezing!! I can't believe those little 4 and 5 year olds lasted out on the field for the while game!!! Caitlyn's daddy ( our son Steve in the green hat) is the coach...he had to rescue one player due to crying and another one because he had to go to the bathroom. Coaching little ones is a far cry from coaching 11 and 12 year olds like Caitlyn's brother, Ryan...tooo funny!!!

Caitlyn is #4 and the smallest player on the team, yet....
she gave it her all!!! They won 4-1...Whoohoo!!!
Mackenzie, our 12 year old DGD went with us and Caitlyn was thrilled!! Max is her buddy!!
Once we got back to Grandma's, we had to make Valentines....and play with play dough, magnetic paper dolls, watch cartoons, spill soda and glitter all over the craft room...ai yi yi!!!!!! Now I know why God gives children to  young people....LOL!!!!
Thanks for stopping by...have a great Sunday!!!!

Vintage Valentines

Good Friday morning everyone...it's almost the weekend...yeaaaaaa!!! We are going to our granddaughter Caitlyn's first soccer game Saturday morning and then she will come home with us for the night. She is 4
going on 13 and no bigger than a minute!! I'm sure we will spend a few hours in the craft room so she can make some Valentines.  Speaking of Valentines, I thought I would show you the vintage type Valentines I made for the ladies at my church craft group.
I used Nestabilities hearts, heart shaped doilies, sentiments from a variety of sets, and diecuts from K&Co. that I bought last year.

I used a Layers of Color art stencil  and sponged Rose Red onto the Pretty in Pink heart that was cutout  with a heart shaped Nestabilities.

A to and from stamp was used on the back to address the Valentines.

Thanks for stopping by....have a great day!!!

She's So Sweet!!

Good morning everyone!!! It's Thursday and today we are going out to lunch with my parents. They received a gift certificate to Cracker Barrel and it's burning a whole in Dad's pocket!! I love to go to CB...it's so much fun to do a little shopping while you wait, especially at the candy counter!! I love all that old fashioned stuff!!! Anyway....I won a challenge at the Catered Crop this week and Linda sent me this adorable image to play with....Heather Ellis of Pure Innocence fame sponsored the challenge and provided images for the Catered Crop DT. Isn't she just the cutest evah!!!???!!!

Her dress and butterfly were paper pieced with papers from The Girls Paperie Vintage Whimsy...she was colored with copics and I did darken the dress color with copics so it would  look a little better with her skin color. Spellbinders dies were used for the flower and leaves and the Vintage Whimsy background papers were sewn and distressed. Ribbon, lace, pearls, button, and twine finish it off.

Thanks for visiting....have a great day!!!!

Color Throwdown #178

Good morning everyone!! Are you ready for another Color Throwdown Challenge?? Keva  is our hostess with the mostess this week and she has picked a warm and sunny group of colors and a mighty yummy
inspiration photo!!!

When I saw the colors I knew I wanted to use the Cat's Meow Happy Owlentines Day set...aren't those little love owls just the cutest!!! The sun was cut out of Papertrey Ink's Summer Sun using a round Nestabilities. The owl image was stamped three times...once on three different cardstocks....Cajun Craze,  Early Expresso, and Kiwi Kiss. The owls were cutout of Cajun Craze and embossed, the branch was cut out of Early Expresso, and the leaves were cut out of  Kiwi Kiss. They were all popped up with pop dots and the sentiment from the same set, sticker hearts, and Summer sun ribbon finish it off.

This is also for a few other challenges:
1. Catered Crop Challenge - hearts
2. Everybody Art Challenge - love
3. Try it on Tuesdays Challenge - card for a true love
4. Tuesday Throwdown - be my valentine
5. Craft Your Passion - anything goes and no designer paper

Papertrey Ink's Day 2 Contest

Hello everyone!! I had a great day today...I made 18 Valentines for the ladies in my church craft group and I also made this card for Papertrey's 5th Anniversary day 2 celebration!! Nichole Heady provided us with a sheet of freebie digi images that each of the 2012 Stamp Designers contributed to.  The challenge was to print out the sheet onto white cardstock and incorporate one of the images into a project. I used the sweet little bird image by Heather Nichols....Papertrey Ink's Everyday Blessings paper matched the colors perfectly. A PTI die was used to cut the bottom edge and the lace and PTI button finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!!!
