My Dad

Last week the Taylored Expressions newsletter did a feature on fathers and this is the card I made for the project. What a great time to honor our fathers...Memorial Day was a time to focus on our heros (my dad for sure!!) and Father's Day is right around the corner. Let me tell you a little about my dad:

My dad, Duane, at 92 years young has had a long and very blessed life. He grew up on a farm in Southern Iowa during the Depression. He lost both his parents before he was fourteen so he lived with his sister until he graduated from high school. He then joined the navy and was stationed at Pearl Harbor during WWII. He married my mother, Betty, in January of 1945 and today they have been married over 70 years. He owned his own business until he retired and then he began to enjoy life with travel and grandchildren. The things I will always remember about him are his kindness, fairness, crazy since of humor, and his love for his family.   I love him dearly and am sooo proud to call him my DAD !!!

The reason I used the car image from the Taylored Expressions Real Classic Stamp Set is because Dad owned a 1956 red and gray Chevy that looks just like the car image!!

The image was colored with Copics and the grill was stamped again on silver metallic paper, colored with Copics, and popped up on the front of the car....Silver Stickles was added to the lights for a little glam. The car was cutout and adhered to the Shimmer White banner diecut that was cutout  with the TE Bottled Up Die...Dad was added to the license plate. The Argyle Cutting Plate was used on silver metallic cardstock to create the background and twine was added to finish it off.

This is my Dad at his 90th birthday party...he is such a handsome guy!!!!

Thanks for stopping by....have a great day!!!

Color Throwdown Challenge #344

Hello everyone!! We had quite a day last Monday....13 - 15 tornados in Central Texas and massive floods!!! We had lots of rain here and 3 of the tornados circled our town but we were ok. My heart goes out to all the families who lost loved ones and their homes...please send prayers to Texas!!!

It's Wednesday and you know what that means....this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge hostess is Vickie and she has picked such a pretty color combo:  Pink, Light Yellow, and Green!!

My card features an adorable stamp from LaBlanche...she was colored with copics and matted in black. She was then popped up over papers from Hello World by Webster's Pages and the MFT's flower diecut was popped up over leaves stamped with a WPlus9 set. The sentiment is from and old See D's Phrases Collection set.
I spent a couple of hours Monday during the rain storm cleaning my craft room and found some old but well loved products to play with!!! I need to do that more often!!!

Hello everyone!!! Can you believe it's Wednesday again!!! We went to our granddaughter's high school choir concert Monday night, two of the grands are getting their braces on today, and Thursday evening we have our grandson's band concert...the choir banquet is Friday night and our youngest granddaughter's softball game is Saturday morning. Phew!!! I think I have it all straight, now...LOL!! Then we start again next week with more softball, graduation, an anniversary, and a birthday....the hubs better get used to Subway and Sonic because cooking isn't on the list!!!! Anyway....Tammy is our hostess for today's Color Throwdown Challenge and she has picked some bold and beautiful colors...aren't they purty!!!

My card features the sentiment from Reverse Confetti's Fabulous Flamingo stamp set...it was stamped on the RC Tag Me die and the flowers from the RC Petals 'n Posies Confetti Cuts were scattered below the tag. The Reverse Confetti SFYTT sketch was used along with papers from Doodlebugs Sun Kissed 6x6 paper pad.

Happy Father's Day!!

Hello everyone!!! Hope all is well with you!!! My sister was here last week so we have had lots of company...the Grands love it when Aunt Kathy comes to visit. It has rained every day for the last 2 weeks so we didn't get to do much outside. The good thing is that the grass and trees are all so pretty and green. The bad thing is that the grass is growing by leaps and bounds and we can't mow...pretty soon we are going to have a jungle in our yard!!! Hopefully, the rain will fill up our lakes and rivers with the much needed water!!! Anyway....Father's Day is almost here and I have a few cards to make for my dad, hubs, and 3 sons. This one is for my son who is doing a little kitchen remodeling. He is learning as he goes so I thought he needed a tool bench complete with tools and a pegboard to hang them on.

The Taylored Expressions Pegboard die was used to cut the background out of Toffee cardstock. The TE All the Fixings Stamp and Die Combo set was used for the two sentiments and all the cute little tool's. They were cut out of silver metallic cardstock from the Metallic Neutrals package. The handles were cut out of chocolate chip and really rust cardstock and the cording holding up the *sign* is the finishing touch.

Thanks for stopping by....have a great day!!!

Color Throwdown Challenge #342

Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge!!!! Monika is the hostess and what fun colors she picked for us to play with!!! I almost made a school themed card but changed my mind when I picked up a piece of watercolor paper. I know that sounds weird but I really wanted to do a little spattering.

SU markers in the challenge colors of red, yellow, blue, and orange were used for the spatters...the large end of the markers were sprayed with water and holding them over the watercolor paper, I hit them against a pencil. The color spattered on the paper and my t-shirt...LOL!!

The paper banners were cut from Doodlebug's Back to School papers and the hello diecut was cut with a Savvy die. The butterfly was punched with a Martha Stewart punch and the sequins finish it off.

Remember, be sure to add CTD342 to the keywords section when you upload your cards to an online gallery so we can find your creations!! Also, please use #ctd342 and #colorthrowdown on social media sites.

We went to Waco last night to see the Baylor University Women's Choir Festival featuring the MCC Women's Ensemble, 3 Baylor students sang solos,  and the combined Women's Choirs of 8 high schools in the Central Texas area. My granddaughter, Mackenzie, was one of the choir members selected to represent Temple High!!! It was a fabulous concert...these girls are the best of the best, for sure!!!

Max is taking a break....

Max is only 5 foot tall and they put her in the back row....she needed a box to stand on...LOL!!

Jones Concert Hall on the Baylor Campus is such a beautiful facility and the acoustics are amazing!!! The MCC Women's Ensemble of 10 students sang acapella and they sounded like a group of 50 or more...absolutely amazing!!

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!!!
