Felt Poinsettia

Good morning everyone....it's close to freezing this morning so I'm sitting here with a cup of cocoa and the fireplace is going strong....sooo warm and cozy!! It will warm up to 70 something this afternoon so I can get
some pansies planted. It's Veteran's Day and my red felt poinsettia isn't a poppy but it's close. I hope all the Vets have a great day including my husband, George, and my Dad. George is retired Army and my Dad served in the Navy during WWII at Pearl Harbor. Mom and I are going to take the boys out today for dinner and a movie....just a little thank you for their service!! Anyway....

I made this card yesterday for the Ways to Use it Challenge on Splitcoast to make something dimensional for the white space on our card. Spellbinders dies were used for the felt poinsettia and leaves...the paper and ribbon are Stampin Up! and the sentiment is from Rubbernecker. The gold balls in the flower center finish it off.

This is also for a few other challenges:
1. Dutch Dare Card Challenge - punches/dies/nesties
2. Sweet Stamps - red/green/gold
3. Make My Monday - Christmas
4. Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central - Christmas/Holiday
5. I Did It Creations Challenge - Christmas

Thanks for visiting....stay warm and thank a Veteran today!!!

This is beautiful!!1 Love the dimension it has and that red is beautiful and true. Don't forget to head off to Target's gift bags, party napkins and cards for inspiration, they have great stuff, but they were wondering why I was taking pictures :)

Hi Joan, Your poinsettia looks fabulous! Such a lovely Christmas card:)
Today is Vets day in the US, and how lovely that you're taking your boys out for dinner and a movie. Sadly, my father is no longer with us. He served six years in the Royal Navy during WW2.
Here in the UK it's called Remembrance Day. At 11.00am on the 11th day of the 11th month a two minute silence is observed - which officially recalls the ending of the first World War, but has become a time to remember and honour all those who have given their life in various wars and conflicts around the world.
Enjoy a lovely weekend:)

GORGEOUS! Love that spellbinders die and even though I keep saying I'm not going to get it, probably will!
Hope you and your family have a wonderful day - and weekend.

It is called Remembrance in Canada but it is actually the same day. My Dad served in the American Navy and was a pilot in WWll. This is the first year he won't be with us. :o( Have a good week end. Hugs n' Stuff, Lynne

This is terrific, Joan, the poinsettia very much deserves the focus as it looks stunning. Never thought to use dies on felt, I shall have to try that.

I hope George and your father enjoyed their Veterans Day treat, it's so good that they get a day when everyone can say thank you. It's Remembrance Day here in the UK today, we have a silence at 11 o'clock and wreaths are placed in remembrance of those that fell in wars. So it's a solemn day and an important one here too.

Your cocoa and fire sound very cosy in your cold temperatures, so strange that it can be so cold yet warm up to quite a reasonable temperature during the day. We dont tend to get such extremes of temperature, it's either hot OR cold, LOL. CoB
