Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoast: Lace Sponging Tutorial

Hello everyone....are you ready for a super fun and easy challenge??? I am the hostess this week for Splitcoast's Technique Lover's Challenge (TLC290) ...today we are going to do lace sponging!
That's right....we are going to sponge over lace to create some beautiful layers!!!

I used a fairly long piece of lace to cover most of the background. If you use a shorter piece of lace be sure to mask off the part of the card you don't want to sponge.

The sides of the lace were taped to the paper underneath for a little stability and then Rose Red was used to sponge on the Pink Pirouette cardstock. Try not to move the lace or the cardstock so the finished product doesn't become smugged.

Who needs background stamps when you can use lace. The bonus to this technique is that you can use the lace on a card when the ink is dry...LOL!!!

Recipe:
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla
Ink: Rose Red
Accessories: Nestabilities, Zva Pearl Flourish, Glittered Prima Rose, Lace
OK, so you don't have any lace...you can punch a border and use it as a stencil. You can also punch both sides of the cardstock strip, sponge, and then sponge a piece of lace in the center....wouldn't that make a beautiful border!!!

If you have stencils like the Glimmer Screens above by Tattered Angels...by all means use them.
Fresh Snow from Papertrey Ink was sponges onto Ruby Red cardstock...you can use Glimmer Mist or any other kind of ink mister spray if you want...what ever flips you skirt!!

Now, go find some lace and create something FABO!!!! Thanks for stopping by....be sure to check out the TLC #290 challenge on Splitcoast...I would love to see what you come up with!!!!

Oh, that lace card is GORGEOUS!!!! What a work of art! Ok, I might just have to try this...the trick will be to resist stamping until I get the cleaning of the day done. :(

Julie

p.s. Dotto underneath the card stock would keep it from walking around while you're sponging.

Stacy Morgan said...

Very very cool. Is the lace real lace or is it paper lace? I think that is beautiful and such a great idea. Gonna have to try that one. LOVE it...
