Make up Day!!

Hello everyone!! I am playing catch up today with my blog postings..... 3 of my grandchildren came to visit last Friday and will stay until Saturday for spring break. Every spare minute has been taken up with fun and games!! Autumn, who is 10, is my stamping partner....she loves to stamp and create beautiful projects. Autumn made this beautiful embossed butterfly card for the TLC challenge today on Splitcoast. She used the cuttlebug butterfly die to emboss a piece of vanilla cs. She sponged Ruby Red on the butterfly and So Saffron around the edges. The background dp is from Stampin Up!, the green ribbon came from grandma's stash and we cut the slits with a craft knife. You can find the tutorial for the ribbon frame here. The sentiment is from PTI.

This is my card for the Technique Lover's Challenge. Today's technique is to make a ribbon frame. I stamped the sentiment, birds and branches from Clear Dollar Stamps Song Bird Silhouettes with Craft Black onto PTI dp and embossed with clear ep. Since I used a punch to make the slits, I had to cover up the hole on the end with a black pearl. Autumn was smart in making me do mine first....her slits look much better. I think I'll go back and use the heat tool on the ribbon to curl it up a bit....I love the shabby chic look!!!

The Featured Stamper for Sunday's challenge on Splitcoast was Stacy Morgan (Twinshappy) !!! Stacy is such a super sweet lady and her gallery is fabulous....... I had such a good time oooohing and awwwwing over all the beautiful cards and finally decided to case the Strutting Your Stuff card. The butterfly theme and colors were kept the same but the layout, sentiment, stamps, ribbon, and dp were changed. The butterflies and sentiment from Clear Dollar Stamps Beautiful Butterflies set were stamped with Chocolate Chip Craft and embossed with clear ep. The paper is from Sei's Chocolat Jolie and the tiny pink rhinestones and shear ribbon finish it off.

The Color Challenge colors last Tuesday were Rose Red, Always Artichoke, and Black. I used a new stamp set by Basic Gray that matched some of the new Porcelain papers I bought at Stamper's Dream. The flower was stamped with Rose Red and Always Artichoke Craft, the butterfly was stamped with Rose Red Craft, and they both were embossed with clear ep. The layers were all cutout with Nestabilities and the background paper is from the Porcelian 6 x 6 pad. Ribbon and pearls from Flourishes, LLC finish it off.

The close up shows this pretty stamped image....I tried to apply a little more pressure on the outside of the acrylic block when I stamped the image to make it look like it was shaded a bit....kind of a faux rock and roll technique. Anyway....
Thanks for visiting today and have a fabulous evening!!! I hope the kids let me watch Dancing With the Stars tonight!!! If not, I may have to go to my Moms...I know she will be watching it!!!
