Two Challenge Cards

Good morning everyone...I wasn't going to stamp today. I am trying to get my Christmas decorations boxed up and stuff put away in the craft room but Julia's challenge drew me in. What can I say...I'm weak!!
The Ways to Use It challenge this week is to finding ways to use Color Combo wheels or web-sites for a fun push away from our usual combos. The site I went to is called Kuler and the color combo I picked is called Cherry Cola....peach, brown, and pink.

I used the Clear Dollar Stamps set called Chocoholic, stamped the images with Memento Rich Cocoa, colored the cuppies with Pretty in Pink and Cameo Coral, covered them with Crystal Effects, added Dazzling Diamonds, cut them out and attached with a glue dot.

Nesties were used for all the layers and the ribbon matched the Rose Red paper perfectly!! It was in a bag if scraps so I don't know where I bought it.

The paper is called Jolie Chocolat by SEI.

I made this card for the color challenge on SCS Tuesday but didn't have a chance to share it with you.

Again, I used Clear Dollar Stamps images...this set is called Spring Critters. The colors for the challenge were Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, and Kraft.

The bunny was paper pieced with the Fancy Pants dp, the bear was stamped on Kraft and the ball was paper pieced, and the chick was stamped on white and colored with copics. The flowers, buttons, and ribbon finish it off.

Sorry about the terrible lighting on these pictures. I took them at night and my lighting just wasn't enough. I need to get another light to brighten up my area. What kind of lighting do y'all use to get professional looking pics?? I had sunlight coming in the window when I took the top picture so it looks pretty good.

Anyway, I am off to play with my new Stampin Up! catty...my DD brought one to me last night and I already have too much on my list!! Have a great day and thanks for visiting today!!

What lighting you need depends on your camera. When I went from point and shoot to SLR with an adjustable flash, I really didn't need my photo tent anymore. The flash can be set softer so there is no overexposure even when up close which was my previous problem. Unless you have a camera like that or one is on it's way, I recommend aphori tent with side lights. If you look online at photography supply sites or your local camera store, you can find one easily. You usually get a variety of backdrops, a box of some kind with light transluscent fabric side panels and two small lights that shine through the fabric side panels lighting your object. Things to look for are replaceable bulbs for the lights, a box that foods or collapses for storage, backdrops you like (mine were grey and brilliant blue -bleh, I substitute white damask fabric), adjustable tilt and height of lights if you ever photograph larger stuff like scrap pages or gift items. You don't want only the bottom half lit! For the same reason, check the size! My photography improved 1000% when I got the photo tent even before the SLR! It still improved the photos even now. The aren't even that expensive, $20-40. Of course, they go up from there but you can get something decent in that price range. HTH

Oops that should have said 'a photo' not aphori. And a fold up tent, not a food tent. I must preview comments that long which don't all fit into the box at once...

Two great color challenge cards Joan! I love the pink/chocolate one with the fun sentiment!! and the animals are just so cute on the blue one - super designs on both!

we had fun snowshoeing yesterday for an hour even though it was just about 4 degrees - but it was sunny and no wind and we were really BUNDLED up! It's so beautiful in the woods with the snow! we're going again today and it's even colder! so it will be a slightly shorter run!
