Color Throwdown #291

Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge!!!! Wanda is our hostess this week and I love the fun colors she picked...so many possibilities!!!!

First, I want to say good-by to the sweet and so talented Melody Ripple..it was such a joy to stamp along with you each week!!!! Melody is such a scrapbook expert...she has inspired me sooo much!!!

We also have some exciting news to announce!  We have a new design team member.... the ultra-talented CINDY LAWRENCE from  The Creative Closet!  We are sooo excited to have Cindy on our team!!!!

Also, the fabulous and super talented ANNETTE ALLEN from My Clever Creations will be joining us as the May Guest Designer...welcome, Annette!!!!

I have lots of birthdays coming up so I made this card to add to my stash. I was really disappointed with my photo...the Bermuda Bay card stock looks like Tempting Turquoise. I took pictures all over the house and outside but just couldn't capture the right color. Anyway....I used two different star punches for the stars and one star was embossed with the Dotted Swiss embossing folder. The paper in the background is from  Making Memories Panorama 8x8 multipack , the happy die is from Memory Box, the birthday sentiment is from Reverse Confetti's Lots to Say set, and sewing and sequins finish it off.

Remember, you don't have to use the exact colors.....use what you have as long as they are close to the challenge colors and be sure to add CTD291 to the keywords section when you upload your cards to an online gallery so we can find your creations!!

You can find out all the challenge details on the Color Throwdown Blog.

Taylored Expressions May Sneak Peeks: Pockets and Pages Journaling

Hello everyone and welcome to day #2 of the Taylored Expressions May Sneak Peeks!!!! Today we will share with you all the new Pockets and Pages dies and several new stamp sets for all your scrapbooking, journaling, and cardmaking needs!!

Taylored Expressions is celebrating Release Week with some fabulous giveaways! Visit the TE Blog each Sneak Peek Day this week for details on how you can enter to win.

My Pockets and Pages scrapbooking project of this year's spring break with the Grands features three new stamps: P+P Journaling - Notepaper, Leave a Little Sparkle,  and P+P Journal Tabs - Day set.  I also used a previously released alphabet set called Doodle Alphabet. The new dies include the P+P Journal Tabs - Day Coordinating DiesStars Stacklets, Triangles Cutting Plate, Banner Stacklets 3, and the previously released Sweet and Simple #’s.

The Journal Tabs - Day were all stamped on Sugar Cream card stock with Really Rust ink, cut out with the coordinating dies, and adhered to a picture or matting so they were easy to pull out of the pocket. The Leave a Little Sparkle stamp was stamped with Rich Cocoa onto the Sugar Cream card stock and glammed up with glitter, enamel dots, and stars that were cut out with Star Stacklets. The background was embossed with the Triangles Cutting Plate.

The Doodle Alphabet was used to create the title pocket....the letters were all colored with Copics and the year was created with the Sweet and Simple #'s dies.

The new Banner Stacklets 3 dies were used to create the banner for Cole's picture...sewing was done along the edges. He was so excited about going fishing with Grandpa!!

Mackenzie and Autumn got to go fishing, too....they caught more fish than
Gramps!!

The P+P Journaling - Notepaper stamp was used for the journaling pocket... enamel triangles were added along the side.

Now it's time to check out all the projects the Baker's Dozen Design Team created for you today!!!!

Taylored Expressions May Sneak Peeks: American Flag Cutting Plate and City Skyline

Hello everyone and welcome to day one of the Taylored Expressions May Sneak Peeks!!! You are going to love all the fabulous new goodies....Taylor will release several new stamp sets and dies to include some that are just perfect for our patriotic holidays!!!

Taylored Expressions is celebrating Release Week with some fabulous giveaways! Visit the TE Blog each Sneak Peek Day this week for details on how you can enter to win.

For my first project, I used the new American Flag Cutting Plate, Star Stacklets, and one of the new patriotic stamps called Patriotic Prose - Brave. Two different flags were cut out with real red and Americana patterned paper. The blue corner piece was adhered over the red diecut and it was backed with a piece of Choice Snow White card stock. All three pieces were distressed and inked with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. It was then adhered to the burlap background and framed (frame from Taylored Expressions).

The sentiment stamp called Patriotic Prose - Brave, which comes in one piece, was cut up into individual words and stamped on the frame with Timber Brown Stazon ink. (Don't use regular die ink because it will bleed...I speak from experience...LOL!!)

Star Stacklets were used to cut out all the stars from burlap, Americana 6x6 paper pad, and Kraft in Color 6x6 paper pad....they were all stacked and adhered with foam tape and glue dots. The corrugated cardboard button, buttons, and twine finish it off.

My second project features the new Light Up the Night stamp set and the new
City Skyline die. The City Skyline die was used to cutout the Choice Kraft and night of navy diecuts..the kraft diecut was layered over the navy one a little off center to create a shadow effect. A few of the dark windows were left in the diecut to create a little dimension.

The fireworks stamp from the Light Up the Night set was colored with markers and then stamped on the Choice Snow White card base and the sentiment from the same set was combined from two different sentiments. The red star was cut using a Star Stacklet and the button and hemp cording finish it off.

Now, are you ready to check out some awesome inspiration created by the Baker's Dozen DT  for you today??

Technique Lover's Challenge #480

Hello everyone!!! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!!! We had another weekend of soccer games, planting flowers, and working in the craft room...life is good!!!

It's my turn to host the Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoast this week and I am going to revisit a previous challenge...#336 to Stamp the Sentiment Over the Image. The technique is simple...just stamp any sentiment over your main image. The image can be stamped or colored....what ever flips you skirt!! However, I am going to change it up just a little....this time you can use a diecut sentiment if you want.

Here are a few other variations:

1. You can stamp the sentiment on vellum and than place it over a stamped image.
2. The sentiment can be stamped over a background that has been stamped with a background stamp.
3. You can stamp the sentiment over several stamped images in a collage effect.
4. Stamp the sentiment over a flower stem.
5. Stamp the sentiment over a color blocked background
6. Have fun!!!

For my sample, I used stamps from the Taylored Expressions  stamp set called
Wine a Little ...they were stamped on the Choice Snow White card stock with Old Olive, Lavender Lace, and Certainly Celery inks. The sentiment from the same set was stamped with Concord Crush and the sequins, hemp cording, and washi tape finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by....come back tomorrow for day one of the Taylored Expressions May Sneak Peeks...you are going to love all the new goodies!!!!
