Color Throwdown Challenge #319

Hello everyone...can you believe it's Wednesday again....seems like it comes around every other day...LOL!!! I hope you are all staying warm....it was in the 20's here this morning...yikes!!! We don't have snow in our forcast, which is good, but the cold is supposed to last for quite a while. My house looks like a jungle because I brought in all my tender little and big plants. I wonder how long it will take for the hubs to get the hint that I need a green house...LOL!!! Anyway....

It's time for this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge and our sweet Wanda is the hostess with the mostess!!! I love the color combo she picked...thought about snowmen right away!!

My card features the adorable Snowman dies from Paper Smooches...they were put together and adhered to the October Afternoon background paper. The snow was made by tearing the white cardstock and the sentiment is from the Paper Smooches Swanky Snowdudes set.

Remember, you don't have to use the exact colors.....use what you have as long as they are close to the challenge colors and be sure to add CTD319 to the keywords section when you upload your cards to an online gallery so we can find your creations!!

You will find all the challenge details on the Color Throwdown Blog.

Double Embossing Technique

Hello everyone!!! I hope you are all toasty warm this early morning....we have been in the 30's to 40's all week and I am now ready for spring...LOL!!! I can't believe it's just November and we have several more months of this...what a bummer!!!!

We have been running around like crazy the last few weeks...craft sale at the church, grandkids concerts, birthdays, birthdays, and more birthdays!!! My poor craft room has cob webs...LOL!!! Anyway....

I made a card featuring the flower image from the Taylored Expressions Wherever You Go set and the double embossing technique....you can find the tutorial here on Splitcoast.  The technique is really easy...you add your card stock to the embossing folder and then on the outside of the folder, tape  a cardboard cutout of the shape you don't want embossed.  I wanted the middle smooth in order to stamp the image so I used a cutout of a Label Stacklets 8. I had to cut 2 out of fairly heavy cardboard .....my first try didn't work because the cardboard wasn't think enough.  Run the folder through the Cuttlebug and tadaa!!!

After the image was colored, a frame was made using 2 Label Stacklets 8 dies.
The TE Harlequin Embossing Folder was used on the Buttercream Frosting card stock for the background, the flowers were colored with Copics, and the ribbon finishes it off. A tiny piece of foam tape was used to secure the ribbon.

Thanks for popping in today....stay warm and get inky!!!

Color Throwdown Challenge #318

Hello everyone!! Hope you are staying warm!!!! It's a little too early to get cold....my poor little plants don't like it much...LOL!!! This weeks Color Throwdown colors should warm you up a bit...Vickie is our hostess and don't you just love this bright, happy color combo!!

My card features the sentiment from the Taylored Expressions  Big Bold Birthday set and the new TE Loop-de-Loo Cutting Plate that was released last week.  The blue trim pieces below the sentiment are the little cuttings from the cutting plate. I love it when I can use dies in several different ways!! The flower was cut with one of the dies from the TE Bloom Where You're Planted set and the button and twine finish it off.

Remember, you don't have to use the exact colors.....use what you have as long as they are close to the challenge colors and be sure to add CTD318 to the keywords section when you upload your cards to an online gallery so we can find your creations!!

Taylored Expressions November Release: In Other Words - Tea and Scattered Leaves Embossing Folder

Hello everyone!!! Today is the day we all have been waiting for...it's release day at Taylored Expressions!!!!!  Now all the awesome stamp sets, dies, cardstock, and preprinted items are available to purchase in the NEW section at the Taylored Expressions Store!!!!

My first card features the super adorable In Other Words - Tea stamp set. The image was stamped on the Sugar Cube card stock,  colored with Copics,  and the patterned paper is from the Flourish 6x6 paper pad by Authentique.

The scallop was cut with the previously released Medium Scallop Border and the sentiment is from the same set. The sentiment layers were cut with dies from the new Build a Tag 1 set and....

the button and hemp cording finish it off.

My second card showcases the new Scattered Leaves Embossing Folder. After the Buttercream Frosting cardstock was embossed, the raised leaves were colored with colored chalk. The banners were all hand cut...they were adhered to the card base and sewing was done across the top.

The leaves were created by stamping on the TE 100% felt with the leaf stamps  from the previously released Falling For You set. The middle leaf was cut out with the coordinating Falling For You die and the green and lavender leaves were cut out by hand. The sentiment is from the previously released We Give Thanks set and the enamel dots and twine finish it off.

I'm so glad you came to see all the new TE inspiration this week....have a great day and remember to stop by the Taylored Expressions store to see all the new goodies in one place!!
