TLC476 - Embedded Diecut

Hello everyone!!!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend!!!! We had a wonderful spring rain today....hope it helps the May flowers!!!!! I have lots of weeding to do and plants to plant so I hope it drys out tomorrow.  BTW...my Mother's 94th birthday is tomorrow!! We had our family party yesterday and she really enjoyed it...George got her a princess balloon and a tiara....she felt special all weekend!!! Anyway...

It's my turn to host the Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoast and I have a real fun and easy one for ya!!

I have been seeing a lot of this technique in blogland and on Pinterest so I had to give it a try!!! I think it makes a project look more finished than just adhering the diecut to the top of the background. I have named it *Embedded Diecut*. Here are the deets:

1. Use a die to cut out a piece of card stock....the negative piece will be your background so pick the color and size you want for this layer.
2. Use the same die to cut out an image in patterned paper or different colored cardstock
3. Add the patterned paper diecut pieces to the negative of the cardstock and glue in place.
4. This is pretty easy, especially if you use a simple die!! If you use a more intricate die, you will be gluing the tiny pieces down for a while....embellish as desired.

For my card, I used the new Silhouette Stems 6 flower die from Taylored Expressions. It was used to cut out the flower and the vase was cut out with one of the new TE Various Vases dies. Then the dies were used to cutout diecuts from Basic Grey's Konnichiwa 6x6 paper pad. The patterned paper pieces were adhered in the negative of the Choice Snow White cardstock layer. The scallops were created with the TE Medium Scallop Border and the sentiment is from the Taylored Expressions Sunflower Bouquet set. The enamel dots and the hemp finish it off.

Now it's your turn....scroll on over to Splitcoast and join my challenge...I would love to see what you create!!! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!!!

Taylored Expressions April Release Day: Wherever You Go

Hello everyone...today is Release Day at Taylored Expressions... Whoohoo!!! All the new stamp sets, dies, and embellies are available in the New Products section of the Taylored Expressions Store!!! This is such a fabulous release...I just know you won't be able to live without some of the new goodies!!

Taylored Expressions is celebrating Release Week with some fabulous giveaways! Visit the TE Blog  each Sneak Peek Day this week for details on how you can enter to win.

My card today features the hummer from the Wherever You Go set, the Hovering By coordinating die set, the Spotted Cutting Plate, the Floral Eyelet Border (from a previous release) and the Band It 2 die

First, the Choice Snow White card stock layer was embossed with the Spotted Cutting Plate (instead of using the C cutting plate on the Cuttlebug, I used the B plate with the embossing mat...it embossed perfectly!!) and adhered to the baja breeze card base. The strip of striped paper is from the A Charmed Life 6x6 paper pad...the not quite navy layer was embossed and the Floral Eyelet Border was adhered to the top.

The Band It 2 die was used to cut out baja breeze and the white sentiment layer. Two additional sentiment layers were cut from not quite navy, and adhered behind the white layer as a mat. The sentiment is from the Wherever You Go set and the button and twine finish it off.

Now, how about some awesome inspiration from the Baker's Dozen Design Team...they have created some fabulous projects for you today!!!!!!!

Taylored Expressions April Sneak Peeks: Day 3 - Home Decor Day

Hello everyone...welcome to day 3 of the Taylored Expressions April Sneak Peeks!!! We have something special for you today....it's Home Decor Day!!! We have all created  projects with home decor items from the Taylored Expressions store...how cool is that!!!! I used the adorable little Mini Canvas and Easel...this was the most fun project ever!!!!

Taylored Expressions is celebrating Release Week with some fabulous giveaways! Visit the Taylored Expressions Blog each Sneak Peek Day this week for details on how you can enter to win.

The canvas was painted with white acrylic paint and dried over night. Then pool party and barely banana inks were sponged on the background. The basket image was stamped on the canvas with Memento Tuxedo Black and again on a piece of Choice Snow White card stock. The card stock image was colored with Copics and cutout eliminating the knitting needles, string of yarn on the right, and the ball of yarn on the left. The knitting needles, string of yarn, and the ball of yarn were all colored on the canvas with Copics and the basket was adhered to the canvas. The shadow area under the basket was colored with gray Copics.

To finish it off, ribbon was adhered around the edge of the canvas and the bow was created with the Taylored Expressions Mini Mix and Match Bows die. It was adhered to the top of the canvas and an enamel dot was added.

My card features the beautiful image from the When Your Heart Speaks set...it was colored with Copics on Choice Snow White and enamel dots were added to the flower centers. A light yellow Copic was used to color the background.

The hummer from the Wherever You Go set was stamped with wild wasabi, cut out with the Hovering By die and popped up with foam tape. The scallop was cut with the TE Medium Scallop Border and sewing was done around the edges.  The hemp cording and washi tape finishes it off.

Now, let's take a look at what the Baker's Dozen DT has created for you today...check it out!!

Color Throwdown Challenge #286

Hello everyone!!! It's Wednesday and that means we have another  Color Throwdown Challenge for you and guess who the hostess is...little old me!!! Don't you just love the inspiration picture...the little fluffy birds are sooo cute!!! I thought you might like some springy colors to get you out of the winter blues.

My card features stamps from the adorable Paper Smooches set called Wicked Nauticool. The sail boats were colored with Copics, cutout, and popped up in the waves with pop dots. The waves were cut with a die from The Cat's Pajamas, embossed with a Dotted Swiss embossing folder and adhered to the card base. The sentiment from the same set and the twine finish it off.

Remember, you don't have to use the exact colors.....use what you have as long as they are close to the challenge colors and be sure to add CTD286 to the keywords section when you upload your cards to an online gallery so we can find your creations!!
