TLC443 Freestyle Design

Hello everyone..it's my turn to host the Technique Lover's challenge on Splitcoast and my challenge is something completely different for some of you. We are going to do a little Freestyle Design.

So, you ask...what is Freestyle design. Well, it's exactly what the name implies...a free and spirited approach to designing a card. We are going to let our creative minds fly today!!
Freestyle Design is a process of adding elements, layers, stamped images, die cuts...anything that strikes your fancy to create your masterpiece!!

Here are the deets:

1. First of all, there are no rules!!!!
2. You can use stickers, stamps, buttons, chipboard, feathers, fabric scraps, flowers..what ever you have sitting on your work desk, in your embellie box, on the floor, or in the trash!!
3. It's usually asymmetrical or off set
4. Gather your elements and layer them into a cluster.
5. Play around with the design before you adhere them...that way you can get the look you want .
6. If you want a flat design to mail...use flat, small elements like sequins, ribbons, flat flowers, burlap, felt, chipboard, corrugated cardboard, etc.
7. If you want a CAS design, use fewer elements
8. Have fun!!!

My card features paper flowers, chipboard button, chipboard flag, large brad, all from Karen Foster. I also used a corrogated cardboard frame, twine, and fabric. The stamp is from Flourishes.

Thanks for visiting to night...I hope you have a chance to do a little Freestyle Design!! Have a great day !!!!!

IC402 Welcome Autumn

Hello everyone....hope you are having a great evening!!! My sweet granddaughter, Mackenzie, is spending a few days with us so I better get to bed early...I know she will want to spend the day tomorrow shopping till we drop...yikes!!! I better take my Geratol...LOL!!!! Anyway....

Stef asked me to make a sample card for her Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast tonight...she picks a different store each week for us to find inspiration. I found this adorable owl onesie for my inspiration piece...it's sooo cute!!!

My card features stamps from two Paper Smooches sets: the owl from Chubby Chums and the branch, leaves, and sentiment from Autumn Groves. The owl was colored with Copics, cutout, and popped up with foam tape. The branch was stamped on a piece of wood grained scrap and the leaves were stamped with Tangerine Tango and Cajun Craze. Sewing and distressing around the edges finish it off.

I thought I would share a couple of pictures of my sweet little Pumpkin....he rules the roost around here...LOL!!!!

Thanks for stopping by.....Have a great day!!!

Color Throwdown Challenge #255

Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge!!!  My sweet friend, Broni, is the hostess this week and she has picked a palette full of bright, happy colors!!! All I could think of when I saw the colors was a plate full of different flavored cupcakes...I don't know why except maybe I was craving a cupcake at the time...LOL!!!

My card features the sweet little cupcake stamps and sentiment from Taylored Expressions For the Love of Cupcakes set. The cupcakes were all paper pieced with papers from my scrap box, cutout and popped up with foam tape onto the Label Stacklets 4 from Taylored Expressions. The background paper is from the My Minds Eye Fine and Dandy 6x6 paper pad ...sewing and distressing was done around the edges. The sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and the buttons and twine finish it off.

Remember, you don't have to use the exact colors...use what you have as long as it's close to the challenge colors and be sure to add CTD255 to the keywords section when you upload your card to an online gallery so we can find your creations!!

Wallpaper Inspiration

Good Monday morning everyone!!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!!!  Ours was a little stressful....my hubby spent many sleepless standing guard over the chicken coop because a critter killed nine chickens in the last few days. He shot a possum that actually chewed through the wire...I had no idea they could do that!! I guess that's because I'm a city girl married to a country boy...LOL!!! Anyway.... I'm off in a few minutes to work in the yard before the temp climbs to 100 degrees but first I want to share a card I made Saturday for the Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast.

I decided to take my inspiration from this awesome wallpaper called Plume from the NYC store of  Michele Varian.

The Reverse Confetti feather from their Peacock Pretties set was embossed with white ep on black card stock. The round sentiment from the same set was stamped with black ink on white card stock and the Happy Birthday sentiment from their Celebrate Cake set was stamped with black on craft for the banner. The ball fringe and twine finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by....have a great day and I hope you stay cool!!!

Taylored Expressions August Spotlight-Fluttering By To Say Hi

Hello everyone!! This is the last day of the Taylored Expresions Release Week....I have had so much fun sharing my projects made with all the new stamps and dies!! Have you picked your favorites yet?? I don't think I could pick a fave ....I just love all the new goodies!!!

Today is Designer Spotlight Day and we got to choose whatever product we wanted to feature today!! It sure was hard for me to decide on just one so I asked my hubs to select for me....

The Butterfly Parade set with the matching Butterfly in the Sky dies was his pick...I think he did good!!!

The layered butterfly was cutout with two of the Butterfly in the Sky dies, adhered together and popped up with foam tape. Twine was used to thread the button and the ends were brought up for the antennas...it was then adhered to the butterfly with a large glue dot. The sentiment from the Butterfly Parade set was stamped on a hand cut banner. The chevron paper is from the Park Bench 6x6 paper pad by Fancy Pants and the twine, doily, buttons, and washi tape finish it off.

I can't wait to see what the other Baker's Dozen Designers picked for today...let's take a look.....
