Color Challenge, Featured Stamper, and DDC Challenge

Hello!! How is everyone doing with kids and grandkids home for the summer?? We have my 6 year old DGS Cody with us for a couple of weeks so things are a little wild around here. We went to Hobby Lobby this morning and loaded up on craft stuff...have you ever used Floam?? Yikes...what a sticky mess. It took forever to clean a little six year old and an old grandma!!! Anyway....

I had a chance before Cody got up this morning to make this card for the Color Challenge on Splitcoast. Emily challenged us to make a one layer white card with any color accent. Yikes!!! To tell the truth, I am kinda liking the one layer thing...never thought I would say that!! I used the images from Clear Dollar Stamps Pretty Perches, masked them for a layered look, and added the ribbon....so easy that I almost feel guilty, but not quite!!

Recipe:

Stamps: Clear Dollar Stamps Pretty Perches
Paper: White
Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Almost Amethyst, Old Olive
Accessories: Ribbon, Nestabilities

The Featured Stamper Challenge Sunday on Splitcoast honored Kisa (Kisamari)
I love all Kisa's gorgeous designs!!! I cased Kisa's adorable Bubbles card...kept the awesome sketch and use of the 3 embellies at the botton but changes everything else. I used different stamps, colors, and added some background layers, lace, and stick pins. The Rubbernecker Floral Silhouettes image and sentiment were stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa onto Vanilla cs, sponged with Pretty in Pink, and layered over the Basic Grey Blush dp. Sewing and distressing were done to add a little shabbiness to the design.

Recipe:

Stamps: Rubbernecker Floral Silhouettes
Paper: Vanilla, Prism Suede Brown Dark, Pink Pirouette, Basic Grey Blush dp
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Lace, Nestabilities, Stick Pins, Pearls, Dimensionals, Sewing Machine

This is my second card for the Featured Stamper challenge to honor Kisa!! This is also for Anne's (Itsapassion) DDC challenge to use newspaper on a card. Yikes!!! Have you seen some of the fabulous cards made for this challenge??? Charlene acutally made dog poop on a newspaper!!! I'll admit mine is very tame compared to her's!!! I found a beautiful picture of trees by the lake Saturday's paper so it was used as one of the layers for this card.
I cased Kisa's Holiday Swap Card...kept the same layout and colors but changed the theme, image, added the scallops and flowers, and changed the direction of the ribbon

The Clear Dollar Stamps Song Bird Silhouettes image was stamped on Cosmo Cricket's Fleuriste dp with Archival Jet Black and embossed with clear ep. The scallops were done with a Martha Stewart punch and the May Arts ribbon and flowers finish it off.

Recipe:

Stamps: Clear Dollar Stamps Song Bird Silhouettes
Paper: Certainly Celery, Black, Cosmo Cricket's Fleuriste dp, Newspaper
Ink: Archival Jet Black
Accessories: Flowers, Pearls, MS Scallop Punch, May Arts Ribbon, Dimensionals, Clear ep
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your day!!!

Saturday Catch Up

Happy Saturday, everyone!!!! What a wild week we have had around here....graduations, awards parties, company, appointments....whew!!! I'm sooo glad it's Saturday!! I am still in my pj's and have been playing in the craft room all morning...whoohoo!!!
Today's Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast came from the Design Dazzle website ...I love all the room designs but the colors from the Toile Blue Nursery really caught my eye. I used Parisian Breeze Specialty papers and cut out the shapes with Nestabilities. The Clear Dollar Stamps Peony image, designed by Kim Teasdale, was stamped with Baja Breeze and the sentiment from the same set was stamped over the peony with Memento Rich Cocoa. Ribbon and pearls finish it off. Easy Peasy!!! I think I'll make more of these and stamp different sentiments over the peony...birthday, anniversary, sympathy. Great idea for a gift set!!!

Friday's Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoast was to make a one layer card with a Summer theme. I must say, this was a real challenge for me...one layer....yikes!!! After ruining 3 other attempts, this is what I ended up with...whew!!! This is also for Michelle's (sf9erfan) DDC challenge from 2 weeks ago to make a 1-2-3 design. One metal piece...the star charm, check; two different ribbons....check; and the third requirement is sponging, check!! If you would like to play along be sure to add DDC to the keywords when you upload to Splitcoast. You can see the other DDC cards here.
The Great Impressions images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black onto Whisper White and colored with copics. The sky was sponged with Cool Caribbean and Barely Banana. The charm and ribbons finish it off.

Tuesday's Color Challenge on Splitcoast was to use Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango, and Riding Hood Red. I really hate to see these colors retire and have been stocking up on cardstock!! I colored the newly released Clear Dollar Stamps Peony image, designed by Dirty Girl and CDS's DT member Kim Teasdale, with copics and added a couple of pearls to the stamens. This is also for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge to use frames so I sponged a nesties shaped frame around the flower using Riding Hood Red. The Kiwi scallops along the sides were made with a round nestie cut in half and taped to the back of the black layer.

The background paper is from Basic Grey's Lime Rickey and the pearls and ribbon finish it off.
Thanks for visiting today....I guess I better hit the shower and then pay a little attention to my African violets. I have some prooning and repotting to do before I do any more stamping!! Have a great day!!!

Monday Morning CAS and North Texas Shoebox Swap Pictures

Good Morning!!!! What a beautiful day....maybe I can get outside and dig in the dirt a little today!!!

I couldn't resist the CAS challenge on Splitcoast this morning...what beautiful colors and shapes in all the beachy stuff!!! I decided to combine this with the Featured Stamper challenge from yesterday to honor the wonderful Roxie (Rox71)!!! This is the beach towel I used for the color inspiration and this is Roxie's Dots by Punches and Die Cut card I cased. The colors were changed, Rubbernecker Butterfly Inchies stamps were used instead of butterfly punches, the black layers were deleated from behind the circles and the white background layer, and the scoring was deleted.

These are some of the pictures I took at the North Texas Shoebox Swap on Saturday. We had 50+ stampers and helpers...what a FABULOUS Swap!!!! Thanks, Suzy for all your hard work!!!

Here are 3 of the Belli girls, Me, Christi Thorsen (cici510), and my DD Holly (hbrown)

Christi (cici510)

Jen del Muro....whoohoo!!! Real life stamping royalty and a real sweetheart!!!!!

Holly and Christi...the dynamic duo!!!

Fern (DFriley) and Sharon (Stampscout)

Annette (epaw), Holly (hbrown), and Fern (DFriley) working sooo hard!!!
Annette brought the most awesome snack made with little round pretxels she bought at Wal-Mart. Here is the recipe she shared with us:

Cayenne Pretzels
1 container (20 oz) round pretzel balls or sticks
1 pkg dry Ranch Dressing Mix
1 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 tsp. garlic salt
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1 cup canola oil

In a large bowl, mix all ingredients well. Spread out on two cookie sheets. Bake in a 200* F oven for 1 hour and 30 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Pour out on paper towels to cool. Store in plastic bags. It gets spicier as it ages. I sometimes toss in 2 cups of pecan halves.

We had such a wonderful time and everything was FABULOUS!!!! Thanks Suzy (sOOzy66) and all your wonderful helpers for everything you did to make this run sooo smooth!!! I can't wait for the next one!!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a GREAT day!!!

Good Morning!!

Good morning everyone!! I am soo excited because tomorrow I will be going to the North Texas Shoebox Swap with my DD Holly!!! We will be stamping from 9AM to 9PM...Whoohoo!!! I can't wait to show you some of the cards we make in Sunday's post!! Today I will show you a few of the cards I made last week.

I was a stamping machine last Tuesday for the Color Challenge on Splitcoast. I used a lot of the scraps sitting on my stamping counter from the previous card I made and then some!!!

I make one with the Mojo88 sketch (the one on the left) and all the images were stamped images that were sitting in my unfinished projects drawer waiting for a little love. They were all colored with copics, the dp scraps came from my scrap box and the images were all cut out with various types of Nesties. This was soooo much fun!!

Recipe:
Stamps: Elzybells, Cornish Heritage Farms Hey Chickie, Penny Black Garden Friends
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, White, Doodlebug dp, SU dp, The Paper Studio dp,
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Nestabilities, SU Scallop Punch, Candy Dots, Pearls, Ribbon, Martha Stewart Picket Fence Punch

This is the card I made for the Sketch Challenge on Splitcoast Wednesday. It is also for last week's DDC challenge hosted by Charlene. We were to use piercing, paper piecing, Kraft, Rose, and Black cardstock. If you would like to play along be sure to add DDC to the keyworks section of you upload so we can find your cards. You can find all the DDC cards here.

The butterfly images are from Rubbernecker's new Butterfly Inchies set and the flourish is from Rubbernecker's new Flourish Inchies set. The main image butterfly and flourish were both stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and the butterfly was paper pieced with another butterfly from the set that was stamped on rose colored dp.

Piercing was done around the image and along the flourish. The other butterflies were stamped, cutout, and attached with glue dots to the layer stamped with Rubbernecker's French Script bg stamp. The background paper is from SEI called Jolie Chocolat. Silver Dew Drops and a kraft colored shear ribbon finish it off.

Paper: Rose Red, White, Kraft, Black, SEI dp, SU dp

The sentiment (also a Rubbernecker stamp) layers were cutout with Nestabilities and attached with dimensionals.

Memorial Weekend Challenge Cards

This has been a wonderful Memorial Day weekend....we had three Grandbabies spend Saturday night and stayed till Sunday afternoon. The craft room is a mess but they all had fun digging around in Grandma's stuff!!! Hopefully you have today off and will get to sleep in a little!!! I am going to show you the cards I made this weekend for the Inspiration challenge and Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoast and then I will spend the rest of the day blurfing!!! I am sooo behind on visiting everyone's blogs...life sure does get crazy sometimes!!! Anyway...

The Featured Stamper this week is Mercy (mkstampin74) and oh, my, she has a FABULOUS gallery!!! It's full of wonderful designs to case!! I needed a couple of birthday cards next week so I used my Clear Dollar Stamps Biggest Wishes set to case Mercy's I Love you, Mama card. I kept the same awesome layout and changed the colors, stamps, and moved the sentiment to the other side.
The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with copics. I used PTI's Raspberry Fizz cardstock and colored the clear rhinestones with a copic. I don't usually pierce around the edges of my cards simply because it usually ends up crocked, however, I took my time with this and only messed up in a couple of areas....don't look too close!!!

Recipe:
Stamps: Clear Dollar Stamps Biggest Wishes
Paper: White, Raspberry Fizz, Black, Yellow
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Copics, Rhinestones, Nestabilities, Ribbon, Dimensionals
I made this card for the Featured Stamper challenge, too.
After I saw Mercy's gorgeous Monochromatic Silhouettes card, I knew I had to case it!! I kept the wonderful layout but changed the colors, stamps, added the flowers and pearls, changed where she placed the ribbon, and added the picket fence border. This is also for the Clear Dollar Stamps Color Challenge on Papercraft Planet to use Riding Hood Red, Creamy Caramel, Night if Navy, and White. Well, wouldn't ya know I didn't even have a scrap of NON left so I used Not Quite Navy. The adorable image and sentiment from Clear Dollar Stamps Nested Love set were colored with copics. An old tooth brush was used to flick Creamy Caramel around the edges and the paper is from Stampin Up!

The leaves were cutout with a Stampin Up! die, and I have had the ribbon for ages...finally got a chance to use it!!
Recipe:
Stamps: Clear Dollar Stamps Nested Love
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Creamy Caramel, Not Quite Navy, White, Stampin Up! dp
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Creamy Caramel
Accessories: Pearls, Flowers, Leaf Die, Ribbon, Nestabilities, Dimensionals, MS Picket Fence Border Punch

The Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast was hosted again this week by my friend Anne (Itsapassion). She challenged us to be inspired by the handbags from an online store called Little Odd Forest.

Now, this challenge could cost me some money...aren't those little handbags beautiful!!! I was in a purple kinda mood so I found my inspiration from the Purple Posies purse. I colored the flowers in a vase image from Impression Obsession with copics and used Wisteria dp to paper piece the vase, for the Labels 3 layer, and for the background layer. The purple paper is Prism classic Purple.

The image was cutout with an oval Nestabilities and then layered with the Labels 3 nesties and an oval scalloped nestie underneath. It wasn't long enough so I cut it in two pieces and taped the pieces so they peaked out on the top and bottom. I layered 3 ribbons to give a little depth of color. I actually had a bow on the top but it didn't look right so I took it off. I can't believe I didn't add any bling...what's up with that????
Recipe:
Stamps: Impression Obsession
Paper: White, Prism Classic Purple
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Ribbons, Nestabilities, Dimensionals, Copics

Thanks for coming by and I hope you get to do something fun today!!!!

Picnic by the Sea!

Good morning everyone!! Whoohoo...it's Friday and the start of a long weekend...I hope all of you have some wonderful plans for Memorial Day!!! I am going to have 3 of my grandbabies this weekend and my DH is going fishing...what's up with that??? Anyway....

The Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoast today is to use circles. Wendy also limited us to use images from only one stamp set. I decided to make a bowl of fruit this morning...reminds me of a picnic!! The Clear Dollar Stamps Fruity Fun images were stamped with craft inks and embossed with clear ep. This also qualifies for the Stampin B's challenge to use a border punch...check, circle...check, leaf or branch....they are small but check.....2 or more brads....check!!!

Recipe
Stamps: Clear Dollar Stamps Fruity Fun
Paper: White, Only Orange, The Paper Studio dp
Ink: Only Orange, Elegant Eggplant, Barely banana, Ruby Red, Garden Green, Bordering Blue
Accessories: SU Scallop Border Punch, Pearls, brads, Embossing Powder, Ribbon, Nestabilities, Dimensionals

Ways to Use It Challenge

The Ways to Use It Challenge on Splitcoast yesterday was to find ways to stamp the same image more than once. ...I really had to think for this one!!! I decided to use the Rubbernecker shells and sentiment to create a little underwater scene...this also qualifies for last weeks DDC challenge hosted by Fran (Francie G.) to make a card featuring water. You can see all the other DDC cards here. If you want to play along be sure to add DDC to the keywords section of you upload.

The background was created using Sherry's Wrinkle Free Distressing technique first by stamping the images with Distress Embossing Ink and embossing with clear ep. Then I used Pine Needles and Peeled Paint Ranger Distress inks as shown in Sherry's tutorial and then misted with Perfect Pearls after the ink was set with the heat tool..

The shells were again stamped on the Prism Papers, cutout, covered with Glossy Accents and dusted with glitter. The ribbon finishes it off.
All products and images from Rubbernecker Stamps
Thanks for visiting today...I hope you have a GREAT weekend!!!
